Hi, I'm building with Homestart..so far very dissapointing! Can some one well what the required gap where mortar is filled between two bricks vertically. Some gaps are about 60mm wide no filling and some filled with mortar. Not too sure what the required standard is. I have build before but internal brickwork was done to much high standard than Homestart with minimal amount of gaps. That's not the only concern. Prep ends, vertical joints the masonary work is shocking. Also bricks have not been cut to size to fill gaps, instead mortar has been used for the short fall. A lot of broken bricks used and then covered with mortar. Gaps of 20mm between slab and external bricks. Correct bricks have not been used about window frames. The explanation from builders I got is dont worry about it because it will all be covered up with render. However to me that's covering up appaling brickwork.
I would like to know what is the building code/standards for brickwork on residential homes.
Thanks
