Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 27, 2014 11:07 pm Just wondering if anyone has bought a house and land package, split the contract, settled on land first and tried to sell their own home to finance the construction and come out ok at the other end. Planning to build with McDonald Jones Homes in ACT. They advised it usually says 150 days in the contract from the time land settles to when they start building? I'm in a position that if it takes a bit longer that may help us....the land is ready to build on now. They have a lot going on at Googong so more of a presence in the previous than in the past. I am sure that in practice things take longer? One concern is that our home is just across the border in Yass, the market is flat at the moment. We have talked to a couple of agents and they think we are in the right asking price range, ie not being unrealistic with what we want to sell for. Anyone got any experiences to share?
