Everything looks fabulous. The contrast bricks should look lovely. We're seeing those metal bits on all the double storey houses going up around where I am so does seem to be pretty standard and must give more support than timber. Re: Fairmont Newport at Greentree Walk 26Aug 29, 2014 3:49 pm Thanks Lucinda, thanks Mishl_123!!! @Lucinda: I have always been under the impression that timber frame is it for most building. We are very new to building so little wonder we are so excited at the sight of metal frames @Mishl_123: That old horrible shed amidst all the excitements It is right behind our fence hence not on our lot and there is a new road construction happening around that area so my bet is that the council will move it sometime. Hope all is going well for your build too. Re: Fairmont Newport at Greentree Walk 30Sep 25, 2014 11:16 am Hi iyeayo, I am building with Fairmont also and we waited approx 5 weeks between slab/framing. I ended up calling Fairmont to hustle them along, but yes as FairmontSAcustom said, this is very normal for Fairmont. Apparantly they have so many builds going on at the moment and it seems like not enough trades! We waited 5.5 weeks for bricking to commence after our frame/windows/roof went up also. The frame goes up incredibly quickly though once they start, you'll be impressed Fairmont Homes Contract signed: July 2013 Slab: May 2014 Frame: July 2014 Roof: 1/8/14 1st fix electrical: 24/9/14 Gyprock: 29/9/14 Brickwork completed: 6/10/14 Handover: 14/12/14 Re: Fairmont Newport at Greentree Walk 31Sep 25, 2014 10:03 pm Thank you FairmontSACustom, Thank you Erin. Thats a bit more reassuring. I will give them a ring tomorrow just incase something is up. Its not a nice feeling to see other projects that started later than yours going up already but if its their norm then it seems we may just have to keep waiting but will def give them a buzz tomorrow. Thanks again folks. After reading so many bad posts about that brick in this forum we're really cautious about that choice, however Fairmont have been known to take their time and do things right so hopefully the brickwork won't suffer any issues! Re: Fairmont Newport at Greentree Walk 38Nov 11, 2014 9:46 pm Welcome to my build Jonooo. Where about are you building. We chose Austral Nougat when we went for the selection and it looked ok but I became worried when I saw the bricks after they were delivered onsite, I became worried about the color. We can't change anything now so if it turns out that we don't like it in the end, we will render the front. Decided against the austral nougat at the last minute and went with grange.... The mrs. Went to austral for a second look and pulled the pin - Which also led to making a few other decisions on exterior colours based on some back up plans we had. Looking forward to seeing if it was the right choice! Re: Fairmont Newport at Greentree Walk 40Dec 17, 2014 5:51 pm Lovely house and gorgeous brick choice! We chose similar colours for our home but PGH versions ... ' bianca' and 'aubergine' which is a little more red/purple than 'chocolate but just as dark. Good luck!
