Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 20, 2014 10:26 pm Hi everyone! Pardon my ignorance but what is Capping and what are Window Sills? Our builder isn't including these as well as Skirting boards as standard, so we have the option to source privately after we're in or have them do it as an upgrade (more $) It would be ideal to include as part of mortgage as we won't have a lot of money saved and will have other things to spend on like painting, but unsure if more cost effective to shop around after we've moved in and if so, roughly how much do these things cost? Would love to hear everyone's opinions, experiences etc or if anyone recommends particular inexpensive suppliers/installers etc Building in Alkimos. Thanks everyone Our Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72518 Re: Skirting boards, Capping & Window Sills - Through builde 2May 20, 2014 10:55 pm Sills are the frame around your window. I would have thought that that would be a standard inclusion by all builders. Not sure how messy it would be doing after can help you with that sorry Re: Skirting boards, Capping & Window Sills - Through builde 3May 20, 2014 10:58 pm LouR Sills are the frame around your window. Re: Skirting boards, Capping & Window Sills - Through builde 7May 20, 2014 11:39 pm LouR Gosh you had me doing a google search too! Yeah I have never seen a window without one either & yes we get them & skirting but you made me look! Haha! I was thinking perhaps there are sills (plaster) but nothing ontop like a wooden sill? I really don't know!? Otherwise no sill at all means the window would be flush with the wall..? Our Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72518 Plasterboard Gyprock is very popular as a reveal liner these days. You need to provide a way of supporting it, we use a modified timber reveal or bracket.
