Hi everyone
We have been quoted $9k by our builder for a glass balustrade by builder. Has anyone had the builders range balustrade installed then taken after handover and replaced with glass? If so, does it work out to be more cost effective?
Thanks

Our balcony is 3x2 and we were quoted $6K, went to bunnings and were quoted $1000 to DIY with panels cut to size etc. We are hoping to be able to do our own after handover or supply it for the builder to do. Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Glass balustrade after handover 5May 18, 2014 9:30 pm I responded with pricing to another post. Stainless pinned 12mm toughened glass balustrade is about 850 per linear meter supplied and installed. Personally its worth paying builders margin on it because if it is stuffed up then the builder wears the fix. Not sure what the DIY stuff looks like but this stuff is top shelf and worth the $$ if you like the look. This is what I am talking about.... check it out and see if this is what you are aiming at. http://www.ozweststeel.com.au/gallery_views/1 cheers Mark Re: Glass balustrade after handover 6May 18, 2014 9:59 pm Thanks to all. I will do some more research. This included French polishing everything wood on the staircase except the stairs themselves. I took our plans to 2 external companies and were quoted similar. So I just did it through them. Considering there's a fair bit of glass on my staircase we ended up being happy Re: Glass balustrade after handover 8May 26, 2014 7:07 am It may just worth to pay for the builder margin and let your builder do this one to have it covered in builder's warranty. If not done properly, especially for stairs or balcony, it can be dangerous. Need to remove glass panel out of concrete without wrecking the glass to get the spa room in, any recommendations on how to do that. Thank you 0 39039 What do you need them to withstand? If it's normal wear and tear, then either will do, if you want resistance to ingress then laminated would be the favourite, but only… 1 12390 |
