Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 17, 2014 7:27 am We are beginning the journey of building a Mercer Q1 with Henley We have purchased an old and tired Californian bungalow in Camberwell and as much as we love the old dame, she is going to cost us almost as much to renovate to our needs, as building a new home. So, today after nearly 3 months of looking around we paid our initial deposit on the Mercer Q1 with Henley, and the journey begins. I have taken heart from the blogs and discussions on this site, and thought it only fair that I now contribute and share my experiences and continue to seek other members counsel. Not to say I haven't been scared to death with some things I have read, I think I have concluded that: "Great results happen with great planning and preparation, and that things wont always go to plan" Would love to hear from others that are building the Mercer and advice on council issues with the demolition of exisiting house, and time to allow? JT posting.php?mode=post&f=15# Re: Mercer Q1 knockdown rebuild 2May 17, 2014 7:36 am I stuffed up and posted in furnishings so now and I can update in correct area We have now completed colour and finishes consult and also completed tender. Waiting now for contract and council building permits before demolishing old house on block Have been advised to keep the house standing until building permits come through. Better to have a house on your land if everything goes pear shaped with permits So four mths since settlement on property it seems like nothin his happening and kids think we will be renting forever....... Getting vague building timelines from henley, which is understandable they quote 300 days in contract, but hear they build much quicker than that. Thinking at least feb or march next year before completion though Anyone with timeline advice would love to hear from you, and anyone on demolition advice, and pitfalls to watch out for likewise JT Re: Mercer Q1 knockdown rebuild 4Jan 19, 2015 1:19 pm Hi, Just signed yesterday with initial deposit for knockdown rebuild of Mercer Q3, or Sahara Q3. Really nervous and wondering how far you've progressed with your build and how has the experience been with the builder?
