Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 25, 2008 10:53 pm Hi my builder installed a different ducted vacuum than the one mentioned in contract. I like that it is a bagless, but it seems that it is not as strong as the one that i want. Still dont know which one is better.. any advice?
The original in contract is Valet, while the installed one is EVS (Electron Vacuum System). See their links below http://www.valet.com.au/ http://www.electronsystems.com.au/Vacuums.htm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Builder installed different brand of ducted vacuum 2May 26, 2008 8:17 am Oznow, we were advised by ducted vacuum companies, that to service a 34 square 4 bed house, we would need a system with an air output of 550 atleast.
Apart from the fact that it WASN'T the one specified, the air output of the EVS is so much lower - I would be jumping up & down. We did and we're now getting the garage door that we were supposed to get, instead of a substitute!!! You need to be happy, do whatever it takes to get what you're supposed to get. Elevate the issue to whomever you have to, to get it resolved to your satisfaction!!!! Re: Builder installed different brand of ducted vacuum 4May 26, 2008 10:57 pm I'd be demanding what you ordered.
While the substitute is an austrlaian made product, (so they say) their web site is a bit to be desired. ie lacking and not showing lots of detail. Get the builder to prove that it is better with independant reports. Valet has been making ducted vacs for many many years. As with any contract substitutes should only be made with "approved equivalents"....a formal contract term....approved by you the purchaser....proven by the building company.....it should be at your discretion to knock back the substitute particularly if there are key specifications...as you have listed. Warning.... ....it irritates me no end that building companies can't follow even basic contract procedures......rant over. mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Thank you.
