Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 09, 2015 12:54 pm Hi All Is it cheaper doing flooring through Metricon or straight from Supplier (Carpet Call) we visited them this weekend and prices were cheaper then stated on price list, come tender time do we get updated prices at that time? If not are we able to show them these prices come tender? I've noticed from a lot of suppliers I've visited prices seem to be much cheaper and standard price. Just curious. Any comments welcome. Re: Flooring prices with Metricon 3Aug 09, 2015 4:48 pm Hi Emmz, Are u getting a carpet and tile package with M? As part of hot now promo we got basic carpet and tiles for $5,990. I did the calculation of getting it done post handover vs. getting done via M. In fact I found I could upgrade to a better Carpet range with M and still be better off. The main benefit is when you do carpet with M you don't pay for any wastage. If you are going to do it after handover then you need to make sure the door heights + architraves etc are installed allowing for the carpet and underlay, if you don't get the measurements right you will need to remove and reinstall. We felt it was all too much hassle to go through. viewtopic.php?t=78985 Flooring prices with Metricon 4Aug 09, 2015 5:54 pm The other consideration is the slab, if the slab isn't nice and flat (yes it's supposed to be but that doesn't always happen) then you will have to pay for the screed to be poured over the slab before the tiles/laminate can be laid. If the flooring is in your contract then metricon will cover everything required. Regarding your cheaper quote, we found exactly the same thing and took the cheaper carpet call quote to our colours appointment and asked them to match it. They matched the laminate quote and gave us a carpet upgrade for free. It's defiantly worth asking the question. Re: Flooring prices with Metricon 5Aug 09, 2015 6:50 pm Thanks Franky40 and Tribe7. Yes I'm getting the home package which includes flooring. Upgrading both carpet and hard floor will be extra 2600 which isn't too bad . I was just curious whether they would match the days prices, no harm in asking them I guess Re: Flooring prices with Metricon 7Aug 09, 2015 7:05 pm The actual package included the nastiest carpets but we were able to upgrade without paying too much so yes was lucky in that way. viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Flooring prices with Metricon 8Aug 09, 2015 7:52 pm Lol @ nasty carpets. Reminded us of our outdoor mat. Straight away we knew they would need upgrading. Hah Tribe7 I would have loved the promo people had of free Hebel lol but I can't complain I guess Tradie may sit at home but will need to get house plastered as well or will you sit it out? 6 9961 Hi, First of all, thank you to this community for sharing your thoughts and opinions.
