My husband wants to get a building inspector out next week (before colourbond goes on) but I didn't think it would be worth it? After your experience I think we will do it, it's better to be safe than sorry especially when it comes to building issues! Hope the rest of your build goes smoothly! It has just sped along, I am very impressd with our builders. A day rarely goes by where something hasn't happened. JMCL Wow, everything is looking great! We are also building with Celebration homes. After your experience I think we will do it, it's better to be safe than sorry especially when it comes to building issues! Hope the rest of your build goes smoothly! Thanks! I definitely think plate high was a good point to do it, even though ours was built to a high standard to our inexperienced eyes it didn't look it! Just worth the reassurance. Anyway, things have been progressing! We are still waiting on our brickwork to be officially complete, to which I think I'll shoot off an email this week and ask what is up with that...we get the why, more baffled as to how nothing has been done in several weeks and it's a small job. Our grey float was all complete as of last weekend, and as of Thursday all of our plastering was complete! And as of Friday all of our windows went in!! We are so AMAZED at how quick it's going! I think they may need a second coat of plaster but otherwise super impressed. I'm expecting ceilings and cornices to be installed this week, and then possibly doors. Lock up is getting imminent! You're buying furniture, must be a sign that it's not too long until you move in, yayyyy! Our build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=74793 Re: Building our first home in (Trinity) Alkimos, WA. 46Jun 01, 2015 8:26 pm I swear I replied - and I wish we're moving in soon! Hopefully August. We are to hit lockup this FRIDAY! So let's see how that goes. They're actually letting us meet our SS too so that's impressive as apparently we're one of the few building companies that has 0 contact with them. They're on a bit of a go-slow at the moment. Our ceilings are in but they're not patched up yet and we have no cornices...nothing else has been done this week. :/ I have been told that our bricks (our window sills and under our doorway) WILL be complete at lock up. They're still not been touched so I'm hoping it's done by Friday or I'll be complaining to the girl again. WHICH I don't like doing but seriously, this is where being able to talk to your SS would be great!! Anyway, in happier news we bought our white goods today! Fridge, dishwasher and washing machine to be delivered sometime when we move in. In our spare room we also took home a new microwave, coffee machine, toaster and kettle. Very exciting. Will hopefully have pictures next time, my ones of the roof really aren't that exciting so haven't bothered to add. Re: Building our first home in (Trinity) Alkimos, WA. 47Jun 13, 2015 11:57 pm Okay so we officially hit lock up a week ago! And we've already had cabinets installed! Moving crazy fast right now. We still haven't met with our SS but have been informed it'll happen after tiling? Which is strange as everyone I've spoken to says we should speak to them before tiling...oh well, our tiles are straight forward at least. Will hopefully get more info this week! We've managed to get in quite a few times, I snuck in through the laundry the other day then stupidly closed it properly and locked it on the way out! Genius. Before we do photos, I wish to point out that it's been a whole YEAR since we did prestart. Therefore I had a major panic in our laundry over our incredibly yellow cupboards. It took until I got home to search for our prestart notes, and my colour chips, to realise that the "yellow" cupboards aren't yellow and ARE right. It's the bloody bench that's wrong! It's not even close to what we picked and it took me a 30 minute drive home and a search to work that out. Again, genius. Re: Building our first home in (Trinity) Alkimos, WA. 48Jun 14, 2015 12:21 am Rachel! Looks so amazing now! Trust me, i dont know if we picked the right cupboards for the whole house! " i " had to change my mind twice, now the hubby's telling me that if i dont like it, its my fault haha! Oh well.. What is the benchtop called in your laundry? But I definitely had a "wtf Rachel you have no taste!!" Moment when I first saw it! I am worried a bit about colours and paint and how it'll all blend but guess we have to wait and find out. My only real concern is the paint is grey and the laundry is more of a brown tone! So will see how it goes together. Guess if it's bad it's only one room, the rest are all in shades of grey and black. The bench in our laundry is laminate, and it is stone fabrini, not sure what current colour is! Re: Building our first home in (Trinity) Alkimos, WA. 50Jun 14, 2015 3:21 am Hehe I know it is frustrating that something went wrong but it is kind of funny that you didn't notice the bench being wrong I love the stone in your kitchen and I'm very jealous of the bin drawer and your lovely doors!!! Re: Building our first home in (Trinity) Alkimos, WA. 51Jun 14, 2015 12:29 pm Haha I know! I couldn't believe it when I realised, this is what happens when you do your prestart a year in advance! Thank you, I love our doors! Can't wait to see them painted and with handles Re: Building our first home in (Trinity) Alkimos, WA. 52Jun 16, 2015 2:41 am Wow Rory14, how exciting seeing everything come together! And the surprise of your handles, I hope I get some surprises like that? I think the wrong laminex colour they have put in your laundry is the one I have chosen - snow fabrini? I hope it looks good? Are they fixing everything up for you soon? I hope they do it quickly and it doesn't set you back any time frame. I love your bin drawer too! I really wanted one but was trying to scale back on upgrades and this went on the dream list and so I didn't end up getting one? Budgeting during Prestart is such a pain! Anyway, congrats on getting all your cupboards and cabinets in despite a few wrong colours. I can't wait until I can see all ,y choices come together Our build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=74793 Re: Building our first home in (Trinity) Alkimos, WA. 53Jul 02, 2015 9:12 pm I have loads of photos but unlikely to post for a month! Our bathrooms have been tiled, our robes installed! We are due to have our house complete end of July and have our PCI scheduled for the 4th of August. We're on vacation in 12 hours so we're pretty excited knowing we're coming back to a complete house! And we had our PCI this week. Nothing major, mostly minor things with a few medium things. We're hoping for keys on Friday but should be early the following week at the latest (from what we were told). Regardless, we'll be in within the fortnight anyway! Have spent the whole weekend packing and we're pretty much done. As soon as we get the call we'll be organising furniture delivery and the chaos will begin... Anyway, here are the overdue photos! Last lot before, possibly, the "moved in" ones. Exterior: Missing our finnials (the stick features) on the gables, will need to add on our nicer lighting to the front of the house, complete our crossover and obviously landscape. We also plan to paint our door a MUCH darker grey. We knew it would be light (because they wouldn't let us paint darker due to fading, so stupid) but it looks WHITE. Ugh. It's a different colour to the ones on the other side of the estate but we prefer this one. We're also happy to get a real idea of our yard now. It is small, but we think it should be big enough for us. We have no one behind us yet but it feels very private as our neighbour is slightly higher than us, and we're higher than the other one. Interior: Our bathtub needs tiles fixed, our shower door and towel rail have created a fiasco there which needs to be fixed also. Some socket covers missing as well, and need to be replaced to the covers we selected. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Minor bedrooms all have double robes, floor to ceiling sliders! Re: Building our first home in (Trinity) Alkimos, WA. 57Aug 09, 2015 9:56 pm Yay congratulations on a successful PCI - and what a beautiful home you have there. I love the paint colour in your living dining - what is it? Your kitchen and bathrooms are beautiful. I actually prefer gables without the filials It sounds like you're super organised if you're more or less done packing - so I'm sure it'll go well. Looking forward to some moved in pics too! Re: Building our first home in (Trinity) Alkimos, WA. 58Aug 09, 2015 10:16 pm Thank you! It's called Kitty Grey, the whole house is in that colour. I love the gables now without them but hopefully it just adds to them! They cost a fair bit to add so they better add to the look! Well we aren't coming from our own house which is probably why! Still at home so it's just packing up bedrooms and our hoards of goods for the house which thankfully are all still boxed up. Don't think it'll be long until the house is full So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point. I'll drop by over the weekend to get… 5 27731 Can anyone give me any onfo on New Homes WA? Good or bad, hopefully good just need to know if my choice was good or not?
