Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 11, 2014 10:05 pm Hi All, Looking for any opinions on the builder Home Group WA as I know they are relatively new. Currently have an excellent promotion with their complete homes eg $50k inclusions. Any help eg quality of home, service, time of build etc would be appreciated. Cheers. Re: Looking for opinions on Home Group WA 2May 11, 2014 10:12 pm When I enquired with them, I got assigned with a consultant that gave us really bad impression. Late on meeting and his advise on our house design are very unprofessional, plus he was slow with getting a quote. We can easily distinguish the professionalism in DAH/Celebration's sales consultant. Having said that, I'm sure some people have better experience with different consultant.. so try to get a referral. Can't say much with build quality. But the inclusions in their special deal is quite good. My first build journey here https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71028 Re: Looking for opinions on Home Group WA 3May 11, 2014 11:13 pm There's plenty of people on the forum currently building with them, we all seem reasonable happy. We're building with them in the Perth foothills and up til now, have been fairly pleased with the way things have gone. We had been signed up with another builder prior to coming to HGWA and I can honestly say the level of inclusions and spec with HG is def better than what we were offered vs cost to build. Their Resort package makes a big dent in that, in a good way. I have two criticisms ... One is time, their paperwork times are long. That said, we haven't had it as bad as many, but even then, we are six months in and have only just completed Prestart. We came to HGWA with a clear, titled block that we owned, a very quick design timeframe as we had it all locked in within a fortnight (built before, we know what we are doing) and no delays whatsoever at this end. By the time we have keys, we are expecting the total time from start to finish to be about 15 months, which is not what we were told. My second whinge is one that I will be making the company aware of in due course ... We signed up last year, since then they have changed the spec on their stone bench tops. We had the choice of Q Stone, Granite or Corian ... In Feb we copped an email saying they had removed granite & q stone, introducing their own Della Vita stone. Was a case of too bad, so sad. I fought and won back my granite, but they were completely inflexible on it at Prestart that we ended up choosing one of their Della Vita stones. Just google dellavita .com.au and look in the bottom of the screen, you will see the HG and Blueprint logos ... Della Vita is a facade company for the builder to import their own spec of goods in ... Which is fine, provided people know about it up front and for those who are already in the pipeline, don't go changing the rules as you go. And in our case, we locked in a price for a certain level of spec and they have slowly introduced cheaper product but no compensation has been made. Apart from all that .... They have been fantastic to deal with so far, hopefully it stays this way for the next six months or so. Re: Looking for opinions on Home Group WA 4May 12, 2014 6:44 pm Begin now to think about how much you can afford to spend and how much building your new home is likely to cost. Chances are you will need a construction loan and a mortgage. It's not too early to find out what size loan you qualify for. Also, knowing the approximate costs will help you modify your building plans to meet your budget. For designs and possible materials you can use check http://absolut.net.au/, remember that as you move from dream house to real house, be sure to ask questions and share your progress...
