Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 07, 2014 11:00 am Hi all, I'm considering doing the downlights after handover (single storey home) but the thing is I'm almost new to those electrical fittings. I've read some posts in the forum and they seem to suggest that I should ask the builder to put in the junction box in the roof only. Then after the handover, I can ask a sparky to do the downlight for me. Could anyone explain to me that only the junction box is required and not the wiring or switches or any other things are required from the builder? Also, what is the cost of LED downlight including the installation after handover? I'm thinking to put roughly 30 of them. Thanks for all of your advice Re: Cost of downlight installation after handover 2May 07, 2014 11:11 am From the junction box the sparky will be able to connect your new down lights however the sparky will need to install the switches or dimmer controls to manage you down lights .Get a quote from your builder and a third party sparky compare the pricing if the cost is not too much get the builder's sparky to do the job so that he already knows the current load and circuit breaker requirement and is familiar with this project.Good Luck!
