Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Dale Alcock at Heron Park - Tiling Photos 141Apr 14, 2015 4:50 pm Love the bathroom tiles! And I actually kind of like the way they have done the bath, something different and looks like a bit of a feature, unsure why though sorry! We were going safe white too in our main bathroom but ended up changing it to a light brown colour, hope they look similar to the way yours does! Happy to see that your house is shaping very well. Cheers, AB Building with New Generation @ Heron Park, Harrisdale, WA My Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70662&p=1167117#p1167117 Re: Dale Alcock at Heron Park - Tiling Photos 143Apr 23, 2015 4:35 pm Thanks for the comments! Unfortunately our PCI has been pushed back a week until next Thursday the 30th Oh well, we sort of expect it. When we saw the house last time, we noticed there seems to be a lot of stuff still needs to be done. It sounds almost unrealistic to pull everything together in a week. So no surprise here... but I really hope next week will be it because I've already got a call from Domayne asking to deliver all my furnitures!! I asked them to keep it until end of month... hope they dont mind keeping it another couple weeks!! My first build journey here https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71028 Re: Dale Alcock at Heron Park - PCI (not impressed!) 144May 04, 2015 1:19 pm So... we just had a pre-handover inspection last Thursday. And we were pretty dissapointed with what we've seen so far The main thing that let us down, was that the house was not really finished when we did our inspection. The paint was half finished, the carpet isn't in, exhaust wasn't in. We expected house to be completed by this time to allow us to do a proper inspection..... I'm not sure why DAH wants us to inspect the house that was still in this state. Because it doesn't give us a good impression and somehow expect us to spot all the imperfections. But at this stage of the build, there are just too many imperfections for us to know whether its a 'bad job' or just 'job unfinished'. I am also not experienced enough to know if it was indeed a standard way of doing it or not.. Anyway, we spotted some bad works around the house. But here are the most common ones: - gaps on the wall between window frame & brick - gaps between sink and kitchen benchtop - gaps between external door and brick - uneven edges (bad rendering/painting) - gaps between brick and hardiflex roof - gaps between in the kitchen drawer between the bottom and front cabinet - under kitchen benchtop there's a dirt embedded to it somehow (not cleanable) Some of them they reckon is a standard thing (like gaps to the sink and benchtop, gaps in the kitchen drawer). They also think the dirt under the kitchen benchtop is because that side is never polished from the supplier so it comes as it is. I'm not sure if this is right.. but I asked them to try and do something about it... I also asked them to seal whatever gaps there is because these gaps catch dirts, and its gonna be a pain trying to clean them up later.. Its pretty annoying to see the house still in this state. But I'm hoping they will do a good job in fixing these issue up before key handover, to prove that they are as good as they claimed to be. I will be getting the bank ready with a cheque so I don't have to pay them if they still hadn't address the problem on the key handover day, which is set for 18th May at the moment. Fingers crossed!! Fingers crossed for you that everything comes together before the 18th. Re: Dale Alcock at Heron Park - PCI (not impressed!) 146May 18, 2015 8:19 pm Did we get keys today jsoestandi???!!!! Re: Dale Alcock at Heron Park - PCI (not impressed!) 147May 18, 2015 10:07 pm Hope everything has gone well. We had similar issues when we did our pre handover inspection (not with DAH). Such a let down to see so much that needed fixing. Esp since they'd done their own inspection a couple weeks prior and should have seen and fixed most of it. I REALLY hope they fixed everything to your satisfaction and that you got keys today. Re: Dale Alcock at Heron Park - PCI (not impressed!) 148May 18, 2015 10:28 pm Thanks guys for remembering me! I felt like someone cared haha and it does mean a lot.. However, I have not got keys yet. They called me on Friday saying that the cabinet maker can only fit the fixed cabinet today and so they asked for handover to be moved to this Wednesday afternoon. Last Friday when we were there, most of the problems were still there. I could've check on the house tomorrow to make sure they does the fixes properly before coming on Wednesday for keys, but I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and hope they make sure house is immaculate when we come to pick up our keys this Wednesday. I have given them an extra two days after all.. So yeah, wait for some news in two days time!! I really do hope they don't dissapoint, I chose DAH and paid a bit more to afford them, so I do have high hopes! Haha Re: Dale Alcock at Heron Park - PCI (not impressed!) 149May 19, 2015 12:03 am Sorry things got pushed out. You sound much more forgiving than I did good luck and keep us posted. Sorry if you've already mentioned this but are you currently living in the area? We've just finished building in Piara Waters so practically neighbours. Excited about it. Seems like a great area and we're really pleased with the school. Good luck in the home stretch! Seems like a great area and we're really pleased with the school. Good luck in the home stretch! We're still in Queens Park. Our Harrisdale house is pretty much a stone throw away from the school! And not too far from th new shopping centre too, which I heard is opening in 2016. I just have to survive living in an area full of constructions in progress for the next half a year or more Re: Dale Alcock at Heron Park - PCI (not impressed!) 151May 19, 2015 1:20 pm Sorry to hear that keys got pushed back!!! Bet you will be counting down until tomorrow, and bet you are hoping they pull everything together for you!! Good luck and enjoy tomorrow!! Bet you will be counting down until tomorrow, and bet you are hoping they pull everything together for you!! Good luck and enjoy tomorrow!! Thanks!! I'm a bit nervous though I really hope they stick up with their promise this time. There's a lot of broken promises in the past that I have been pretty patient about with the ultimate expectation that they will eventually deliver it when I got the key. So yeah.. time will soon tell haha.. will keep everyone posted! Finally, after some delays, we eventually got our keys yesterday! Pretty happy with how the house turned out, most of the problems were fixed. There are still a few imperfections but the site supervisor is more than happy to come back to touch it up again. We are quite lucky because there's 3 other houses in the area that the supervisor is looking after, so he will always be in the area for another 6 months anyway. And he has no problem getting one of his trades to come and do quick fix in our house if required. Few problems outstanding are: - paint chips in few spots - garage door not working (waiting for Centurion people to come and fix) - two window frames are damaged (waiting for Jason window to come and fix) - fridge water line missing a valve - Concrete path and driveway paving to be fixed up Its not 100% finished yet but I'm quite happy with my SS and I have confidence in him. Especially knowing he can't escape the are for the next 6 months! But... no celebrations yet as we can't move in until window treatment is in and landscaping are done (so our dog can do his dog duty outside). Unfortunately, Spotlight has 10-12 weeks waiting time for our shutters. I am thinking to just block out my bedroom windows with some aluminium foil until Spotlight came to the rescue!! haha.. Anyway, here's a few photo of the finished house! PS: anyone wants a nespresso U for sale? I was thinking about that. But we thought we don't want to spend money for something we will remove again. We'll try the aluminium foil first, if we can't bear the looks then probably grab a temporary blinds! hahaha My first build journey here https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71028 Re: Dale Alcock at Heron Park - We've Got KEYS! 157May 21, 2015 6:49 pm Would be cheaper than mortgage repayments whilst you don't live there!
