Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Ben Trager build - Slab booked! 121Oct 10, 2014 1:50 pm Nice to see things moving, at least at this stage! I'be been trawling through many posts the last week and can't think of a builder in WA that hasn't ticked of a client because of delays....it seems to me half the trouble is a lack of proactive communication. I think its the absence of information that frustrates most of us. Hope builders are reading this.....keep talking to us, guys. Even if its bad news, we want to know asap and not find out at the last minute. Looking forward to seeing the progress Re: Our Ben Trager build - Earthworks DONE! 127Oct 11, 2014 8:06 pm Was cool to walk on my 'house' count down to slab now Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Our Ben Trager build - Earthworks DONE! 128Oct 15, 2014 6:08 pm They must be digging for the footings today as we received an invoice for hard digging as they hit some kind of road base, so cheers to the developers way back when for dumping whatever on the block and burying it! The extra charge sucks. At least it shouldn't be very much unless the whole block is covered. ronfire At least you know they're on the job!:D Not necessarily. We received the lock-up invoice before the patio door was even on the site. Re: Our Ben Trager build - Earthworks DONE! 133Oct 15, 2014 8:47 pm Well I'd hope hard digging was discovered from actually digging haha! Luckily the cost is under $1000 but still annoying, A class sandy site and it's still not good enough :p Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Our Ben Trager build - Earthworks DONE! 134Oct 15, 2014 9:52 pm For digging up a bit of roadbase? In what way is that hard digging. If it was an actual road, that would be another story. In what way is that hard digging. If it was an actual road, that would be another story. Hard, cause they actually had to bend their backs a bit for a change? They use a mini-digger for the footings. They'll rip through road-base almost as easily as sand unless it's thick and well compacted. Unless there was a road there previously, there shouldn't be any difficulty digging through stuff that had just been casually dumped on the block. Re: Our Ben Trager build - Earthworks DONE! 137Oct 15, 2014 11:15 pm Sometimes you gotta wonder what "hard digging" actually means. Anything other than soft sand? Haha. Congrats on siteworks! They have to dig deeper for the pilling at the back which rests on the back retaining wall footings...wonder if they've confused that with road base :p Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Our Ben Trager build - Earthworks DONE! 139Oct 16, 2014 12:40 am Slabs a coming, My Build, viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64837 Re: Our Ben Trager build - Earthworks DONE! 140Oct 16, 2014 5:58 pm TW you would be correct, I rang my (soon to be) neighbours and they went and had a look for me and apparently our slab is there! Wish I didn't live so far away I want to go and see it :p Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 "Losers" "humanity" "off time" "your" "top notch" "love symbol" Sounds like ponzo is done using other people's toilets 36 23918 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17619 |
