Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Ben Trager Build - Tile meeting done... 1381Sep 19, 2015 12:01 pm Thanks ladies (and gent), you're right I have been positive this whole time, or at least tried to be, but yesterday was just a real non-event. Maybe I expected too much, but I don't think I'm asking too much for substantial work to be done each week when we are so close to the finish line, I don't want the trades to rush to get us there, but I thought as a builder surely you'd be pushing to have your client, who through the whole thing has hardly complained and has tried to give your company a positive look online and let's be honest this forum is your best form of advertising because as soon as you google Ben trager homes it comes up for every new potential client to read, and been more than reasonable with the many delays we have faced through this build, just wouldn't you try and hand over the house in the suggested time frame?? Just give me a good house in 12 months, I'm not asking much!! The area manager (who only started working there this week) was who attended our tile meeting, and by tile meeting they just look at the boxes basically. Our balcony tiles seem to be missing too.... What annoys me the most is their display home only a few KM from an existing display in mandurah is given priority and is being built in 9 months, they have multiple trades there and the build is always buzzing with trades, whilst their clients homes sit there, wake up Ben, WE are your advertising not your displays, don't underestimate the power of word of mouth advertising. Re: Our Ben Trager Build - Tile meeting done... 1382Sep 19, 2015 12:11 pm Aww, Archetto. Don't give up now. You're the one that has kept me sane through all of this. I always feel better when you keep it all so positive. Really hope it picks up again. They have used the excuse that they can't get trades SOR but as you said the new display as been built in around 9months. Sad that it comes before paying clients builds. I kind of want them to finish it now, just so they can get back to getting their clients builds completed in as quick and as high standard as they do their display homes. You're nearly there. Hope they can pull it all together in 4 weeks and get you back to your usual positive self. Re: Our Ben Trager Build - Tile meeting done... 1383Sep 19, 2015 12:20 pm Ok back to being positive!! I saw these bar stools at ikea and the dark grey would match our dining chairs, thoughts?? http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b96/tarzncobalt/CB58B83D-A16E-4204-BFF3-260725B2B4EE_zps2dz5ls5w.png http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b96/tarzncobalt/CD478AED-C64B-4602-9C33-577674087575_zpsdnoi8z3v.png Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Our Ben Trager Build - Tile meeting done... 1386Sep 19, 2015 1:42 pm Display home finished in 9 months, quality finish no doubt. We all feel let down when we know what is possible. Re: Our Ben Trager Build - Tile meeting done... 1387Sep 19, 2015 8:08 pm Ooo those bar stools are great. I'm a big fan of stools with a back - a lot more comfortable. My thoughts exactly, which is why I suggested that we could stay in one of our builders' lovely display homes while we wait for our home to be finished. I wrote my first really angry email because of a poor response I got to a previous email... I asked for compensation because I was told my handover would be the 26th Aug so I went and bought furniture based on that and now because the house still isn't finished I'm going to have to pay to move it twice because the furniture company can't keep it much longer.. My CLO said it was my choice not to sign the paperwork at the 2nd PCI 1 meeting and she said the house was practically complete with just some minor plumbing issues. I wrote back a list of ALL the things that were wrong and she responded back saying there's clearly a breakdown in communication because she wasn't told about any of the issues I listed.. I've told them I want a list of any outstanding defects before i agree to another inspection because this will be the 3rd PCI 1 meeting I have to go to which is a 3rd half day off work plus the 3rd time I've paid for a building inspector to come out.. I'm building in Bayswater and I got told it's hard to get trades because I'm not out in a new estate.. now I'm told it's because of the boom the building industry is in.. I'm at 60 weeks build time.. so much for 40-45. I also went shopping today and bought lights! Re: Our Ben Trager Build - Tile meeting done... 1391Sep 20, 2015 12:12 am I am sorry to hear Archetto. Someone told us that our initial delay might have been another display home being built in the nearby new estate. Anyway, i like your choice of bar stool. I like the one with the back but adjustable one might be better? I'm looking for pendant light for our kitchen. If you know a good store other than beacon lighting, let me know. Hoping things will pick up soon for you and yes, love the barstool design Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: Our Ben Trager Build - Tile meeting done... 1393Sep 20, 2015 12:31 am
I told that to my supervisor months ago and he said he built the display home i was referring to lol digs his own hole... lol i said well i know you have the trades. I figure they basically... roughly schedule every trade at the start but keep a big window between trades for stuff ups... but they dont shift the schedule forward if there is no delays in order to mitigate delays from errors later thus failing to keep the schedule. Each house is fairly custom to them which causes drafting/design issues. Hence why dates for next trade or job cannot be given.. and because they havent booked them. All will be right when we get our keys and you have your nice view, also these homes will be less likely to get cracks as they have enough time to dry lolololol Re: Our Ben Trager Build - Tile meeting done... 1395Sep 20, 2015 10:10 am This will sound unsupportive but I've just had déjàvu reading these posts. We went through all the same issues and concerns. Changing SS, no SS to complete job, no tiler at tiling meeting, trades making a mess. An extra month or two is really frustrating. We moved in virtually 12 months ago to the day and those things are forgotten. The hard work really starts when you put your own finishes and touches to the inside and outside and start your own memories. We don't even remember the frustrating build time anymore or even living in our old house. The BT houses are different in a good way. The upper floor build is unique and they are (mostly) good looking homes and pretty good specs. Short term pain for long term gain. We had our place valued 3 months after moving and was $100k more than we spent on land, house and finishes. Keep the positive attitude. You'll end up a winner out of it. My Thread (Halls Head Beach House): viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67006 Re: Our Ben Trager Build - Tile meeting done... 1396Sep 20, 2015 11:09 am Thanks Mrsmith, I know we will forget about it all, and it's the longing to start putting our purchases into the home that makes the wait so frustrating! But you're right we will get there, and we will have a great home by the end of it all, we are so close to the end now even if it doesn't feel like it at the moment! I'm glad to hear you're really enjoying your house Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Our Ben Trager Build - Tile meeting done... 1397Sep 20, 2015 11:17 am You have been so positive throughout your build Archetto so I think you are allowed to feel a little down sometimes when something gets delayed.. especially when it is so close to finishing. Hopefully next week they move quicker again My Home Group build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77067 Re: Our Ben Trager Build - Tile meeting done... 1398Sep 20, 2015 11:17 am You have been so positive throughout your build Archetto so I think you are allowed to feel a little down sometimes when something gets delayed.. especially when it is so close to finishing. That's made me feel happier hearing from someone who has actually moved in and lived in a BT home for a while. Thanks for that Re: Our Ben Trager Build - Tile meeting done... 1400Sep 20, 2015 12:05 pm I LOVE those bar stools archetto, they are really nice! Your benchtop and cabinets are stunning, I love your selections. Very well said about the builder too, I would be feeling exactly the same about everything, especially the display home. Hopefully there is a turn around this week coming, considering you have been so patient and understanding. My fingers are crossed for you archetto "Losers" "humanity" "off time" "your" "top notch" "love symbol" Sounds like ponzo is done using other people's toilets 36 23738 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17197 |
