Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Ben Trager Build - Moved in pics :) 2402Feb 15, 2016 11:01 pm Well we've been in for 2.5 months now! Time sure goes quickly. We haven't done much lately but we did finish our stairs this weekend! The first time my partner has laid timber on stairs and he did such a good job it looks amazing, 1 tiny piece to go. We had the treads custom made so that the nosing was square instead of the standard rounded bullnose, cost a small fortune but was worth the extra expense! http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b96/tarzncobalt/05C29334-7BEC-4302-AAE5-213F27C7E1A7_zpsy7lum5gd.jpg Oh yeah and we put some shelves up in the laundry, styling still to be finished...pick the adairs addict http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b96/tarzncobalt/tarzncobalt001/IMG_1899_zps96n90kxq.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b96/tarzncobalt/tarzncobalt001/IMG_1896_zpsb0jkj7qh.jpg Now onto the negatives...remember when I posted about our ceiling not looking like you would expect? The builder sent out a ceiling repairer who will tell it how it is, well he told it how it was, and stated 'your ceilings are shot'...our garage ceiling needs to be torn down and replaced, and the living/dining/kitchen/master/theatre are going to be patched over and repainted and see if that helps them rather than pulling them down too. The garage I don't mind so much as we can empty that easily enough and it's shut off from the rest of the house, however the other areas the furniture will need to be shifted out and the dust is going to be bad. The more I think about the whole thing the more annoyed I get and the more I look at the ceilings the more issues I find, like noticing this the other night in our ensuite, it's like a crack or a split in the ceiling boards or just a super bad join, but it wasn't there until the other day http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b96/tarzncobalt/98170E08-E40F-4CE9-B4A2-F7DDB0D0B446_zps1f9sckwt.jpg And then I noticed our floor waste seems to be filled with grout http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b96/tarzncobalt/DBEC3F77-5F07-4318-9339-CB6533ED7645_zpstuxo5usp.jpg Ahh building....starting to wonder if i'd ever do this again!! Very fancy, your partner did a great job So sorry to hear you still have issues, I would be feeling very frustrated too about the thought of all of that dust. They should have to come in and do a big clean for you after it! Re: Our Ben Trager Build - Moved in pics :) 2404Feb 16, 2016 11:19 am Floors and stairs look fantastic archetto. How are you finding the bamboo for durability and scratching? The house we are currently in has vinyl planks and I hate them and find they scratch too easily. I'm sorry about the ceiling issues you are having, that would be really frustrating Re: Our Ben Trager Build - Moved in pics :) 2405Feb 16, 2016 11:24 am That is frustrating about the grout in your drain, my parents also had this problem with 101 residential, they poured water down them and the water wouldn't drain anywhere! The positive of it is it's all happening now so you can address it. We had our 6 month maintainence 2 months ago where the cornice cracking was addressed but now we still have cracks appearing, it's frustrating. I'm an adairs addict too! So good!! Thanks all, it is annoying but I look forward to the day everything is sorted!! Re the bamboo we have a few scratches on it but you can't really see them, I'll eventually get a product to fill them all in. But otherwise I don't think you'd ever dent it or anything like that it's very hard!
