See how we go though. After lots of comparisons etc i'm eyeing this one off as the winner at the moment Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It's 639L, thing I don't like about it is how big and bulky the water/ice dispenser is but I think I could live with it Also loooove this one but might be slightly over budget Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We too looked at the Samsungs and they were on the list for a long time. However, what made us jump ship to the LG was the ice maker. For some reason the Samsungs have the big bulky ice maker in their doors and it does take up space in the freezer. The LG it is situated at the back and is not in the way. The other thing that put us off the SS in the end were the reviews about rust. There were too many for us to ignore, even after taking into account the fact that most people only do online reviews to complain. Re: Our Ben Trager build - Plaster! 848Jul 08, 2015 11:23 am Agh Marcia you're not helping :p now I have to go back to researching again lol, I did read that about rust, and then I read about the ice makers failing time and time again on the LGs, so I figure whatever I buy is doomed anyway if you go by the reviews on everything! This is sooo hard Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Our Ben Trager build - Plaster! 849Jul 08, 2015 11:34 am I didn't read any reviews. Had landed from Scotland, needed a fridge, picked the one I liked for a price I liked. We did buy other stuff at the same time from Good Guys so got a good discount. Haven't had a problem with any rust. The ice/water but does take up room in the door I find you don't put much stuff in the door as it's not like the fridge where you put bottles and stuff. I can honestly say we've had no problems what so ever. I know it's a big investment but go with one you like. You'll drive yourself crazy reading reviews. What one person loves another has had nothing but problems. Bit like builders Re: Our Ben Trager build - Plaster! 850Jul 08, 2015 12:11 pm So true, either way it's a gamble, I think we'll stand in front of them all on the day we choose and just go with what one feels right at the time and for the right price. Rather then drive myself crazy now with so many options and reviews haha Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Our Ben Trager build - Plaster! 851Jul 08, 2015 12:32 pm Product review scares me haha but like DandyDons said, someone is going to have a problem with every product. Try not to over complicate it too much; pick one that's aesthetically pleasing - remember that the kitchen tends to be the hub of the house, and with a fridge always on display its gotta look good! Then of course it needs to meet all your storage requirements. Energy rating wise they're all very similar really and is the difference between 2 and 3 stars really that massive? Finally, warranty wise, most stores offer and extended warranty anyway don't they? And if still in doubt, just choose a shiny black one Haha jokes I know its a personal preference thing I had a quick look for your TV... is this the one? http://www.lg.com/au/tvs/lg-70UF770T If so, you're pretty well on to a winner. The only thing I can't see is 3D capability but if that's not something you're chasing then no matter! Its got most everything else! First Build, Commodore Homes, Alkimos Beach. My build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69032 Re: Our Ben Trager build - Plaster! 852Jul 08, 2015 12:55 pm Yep that's it, weird they would bring out a TV in 2015 without 3D! Will look into that. Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Our Ben Trager build - Plaster! 853Jul 09, 2015 12:00 am I hope I'm not too late with the fridge thread! I currently have a "normal" Samsung fridge with freezer on top and love it. Next fridge will mostly likely be french door style with freezer drawers on the bottom, haven't done a thorough investigation yet but I was at Kambos the other week and quickly looked at them. Current front runners are Samsung and Bosch. The energy ratings for fridges have changed recently - when I bought my Samsung it was 4 stars, now the highest rating I've seen has been 1.5 stars, a bit depressing. I think the best thing to do is just look at the actual power it uses. Edit: The change happened in 2010, I think I bought my fridge in 2007. Re: Our Ben Trager build - Plaster! 854Jul 09, 2015 1:12 am Yep the energy ratings are deceiving as it may say 2 star but use more power than a 1.5 star, weird. I worked out the cost difference between a 1.5 star and a 2 star is roughly $50 a year in power costs. LG apparently were caught ly*ng about their energy ratings too according to google. I've given up on researching fridges now, just going to go with what feels right on the day! Plus it's 3 months away anyway lol plenty of time to change my mind another 100 times.
