Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 24, 2014 3:00 pm So we have a block of land we are trying to build a house on. We tried working with an experienced building designer but ended up severing the relationship as he really wasn't listening to us. We have since been working with a builder on custom plans. We are pretty much 100% happy with the floor plan, and we have a facade we have picked to use on the design, but we are not 100% on the facade or selection of interiors, and things like window eaves (mostly on the south / west where we would like windows as it overlooks a beautiful park but obviously we don't want the excessive summer sun exposure into the upstairs. So if this was you, or has been you, who would you consult with? I am feeling like we need another expert set of eyes and creativity to help us make the house come to life and really be what we want, but I am not sure who would should seek out? Another building designer? An architect? An interior designer? ?? Thanks in advance, GMOOH Re: Who would you go to? 3Apr 25, 2014 8:45 am Yes- we have a budget. It's a reasonable, but not extravagant budget for a custom build. We have been put off the architect / building designer route because of our experience as well as concern about the architect (at least the 3 we have met with who are younger) being able to deliver a design that would be deliverable in our budget. But maybe we just haven't met with the right person yet....
