Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 21, 2014 3:49 pm Hi, Me and my hubby are planning to buy a block of land in Augustine Heights. We would be looking to build a double storey house on it. Any advise on builders would be appreciated. We are looking to go for the cheapest one (I know doesn't sound good, but our budget is really tight) As per developer, the soil is 'H' type and also would need around 1m retaining wall. We are completely new to this process and any advise would be appreciated. Does anyone know if we should only go for builder that gives around 25 years of structural warranty, as there are some who provide much less than that too ? Re: Buying Land in Augustine Heights 3Apr 21, 2014 10:07 pm Hi there, we are also building in the area with Plantation Homes. Only piece of advice I could give is to way overestimate how much the retaining will cost you. Seems to sting a lot of people. I will be happy never to hear the words retaining wall again haha. As far as structural warranty goes I'm not sure. In the end is there much difference once you're beyond 10 years? I'm not sure there would be (surely a major structural problem would declare itself by then??), but I'm no expert. We just had our handover with plantation homes and are in augustine heights. What size block are you looking to buy? Thank you Great to hear that you have already got your house built. Hope your journey was very good We are looking to buy around 450 sq m block. Land is selling pretty quickly there which is a bit surprising. I am pretty new to this forum. Hoping to get some advise. Yeah we are trying to find out with builders as to how much will the retaining wall cost. Also, not sure about the soil type if its H1 or H2 ..The developer just said H Type. That would also add to the cost, but not sure how much. Does anyone have an idea ? Will be talking to the builders during the week to find out how much they will charge for that. Yeah I don't know why I came to a forum. Place is full of wierdos/pedos thought internet may help but I suppose I'll try my luck with someone in person. Cheers.
