Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 24, 2014 5:31 pm How detailed is a builders clean, inside and out? what is the likely hood that we will have to have a good clean ourselves before we move in even after the builders clean? I am not expecting a show home finish but a reasonable level of clean would be nice. Does it involve cleaning the windows inside and out and the garage? We had two cleans. The first was before our final inspection and the second was just before we moved in. We found the cleans pretty good. The garage was hosed down inside and the windows were cleaned, so it's worth asking your ss what kind of clean you will get ~Nat Lawson 24 - Voyager Point Re: The builders clean 3Aug 24, 2014 8:23 pm Here in WA with redink we found the clean to be fairly useless...yes they cleaned it but it didn't look like it. Paint and mortar on windows and frames, paint on tiles and benchtops, grout residue on tiles, dust and dirt all over slab, dirt in bath and sinks. I would definitely put aside some time to scrub your bathrooms and kitchen cupboards before you move in but windows I'd wait until you have finished landscaping Re: The builders clean 4Aug 24, 2014 9:30 pm Thanks for the info Nat and Kat, I ll defiantly be talking to the SS but had a feeling a lot of the cleaning would be up to us. Clean??? It was a joke. It took 5 hours to clean it after the "cleaners" had gone. I didn't expect it to be an "owner clean" standard, but all I can say is, the builders should have refunded me their wages from my final payment.... Re: The builders clean 6Aug 25, 2014 2:02 am Builders clean are useless. I can do a better job at it. My house has been cleaned twice and handover isnt until 27th Aug. It doesnt look nothing like clean. They only clean and make thibgs look shiny from the outside but when u open up the cabinets and look under the sink and architraves properly it still has so much dust and sand.. its gross. I will be doing a proper clean before we move in. Re: The builders clean 7Aug 25, 2014 6:58 am Thanks guys I ll kind of thought builders and clean was a bit of a contradiction. It was mainly tge windows as they are covered it rubbish. I had budgeted a day for cleaning when we moved in but the house was impeccable. Whoever they used for the post builders clean did an amazing job, wasn't much left for us to do. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October I have stone pavement (?) in my backyard around the pool.
