Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 16, 2014 10:02 pm Hi guys, have been reading the forums for quite some time now and thought I would post my own experience! My partner and I purchased our block of land in melton at the start of march and put a deposit on the lexington lux Q1 last weekend, we are wanting to make minor changes to the bedrooms and hallway our consultant is putting our revised floor plan into head office this week and our fingers and toes are crossed that they will approve it! Has anyone else built with henleys and changed a floor plan like we are hoping to do? Thanks Tamara Henley Lexington Lux Q1 MK2 Re: Our Henleys experience! 2Apr 17, 2014 1:51 pm Hi and welcome! Great house design! Not sure about changing but i'm pretty sure they would change some parts. Is your consultant from selandra Rise by any chance?! Try this thread, its for all Henley homes related... Emz is also building the lexington lux forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70697&hilit=henley+homes Second Build, this time with Carlisle 2016, can't wait! We found the basic rule was that anything (almost) could be moved - so long as it stayed within the main roofline - ie if it meant extending the house considerably then cost became an issue. The houses are generally built in "modules" - so you can slide and push the bits around. You might for example go to a boundary and drop eaves. We slid our design back a bit and wider. We moved doors and enlarged rooms. We added an ensuite to the 2nd BR. We felt the cost was reasonable. AND - added value to the house. The Sienna - for some odd reason - had its internal access door through the study/4th BR - why - who knows. We moved it to kitchen area. If we had a problem - by making the moves our family/dining area was stretched and we had room there that wasn't apparent on the plan - ie it didn't seem that big. We have fixed it with furniture placement. But - for every move and module swap other things might move/change. We flipped our design - and slid rooms about. We also found out other designs exist which they don't always show you. We found them by accident. The Sienna Vogue had some 6 or 8 basic different designs yet we had only been shown 4 or 5. We didn't want our BRs off the main door - as in one design so re-arranged them. But - the houses are all "modules" - and if you look at the design you can generally pick them out and thus try them in other areas. So long as you don't change the very "fabric" of the house and take it outside its allowances - you can have fun. Hope that all makes sense. Re: Our Henleys experience! 5Apr 18, 2014 8:09 am Oh - and we are happy with result, albeit with a few tweaks we should have thought of before the build. I apologise for any confusion, but your understanding is correct.
