Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Henley Homes 2287Sep 21, 2016 12:35 pm stayxtrue spice girl We were told no by Henley. So ended up going cat 5 to get a porcelain tile and a tile we liked. Sorry these aren't features tiles just normal floor tiles. Nooooo this isnt what I wanted to hear! Its one of the biggest downfalls of henley as other builders allow you to go to Beaumants to choose /quote] I read on someone's thread that they went to the showroom of Henley's supplier and they have a wider range on display. So maybe try going there and you might find something to your liking. Re: Henley Homes 2297Sep 22, 2016 6:17 pm Hey All, for those who have built or are building with Henley, when the build comes to the Final Stage, can you still visit the site without SS present? The house will be fully locked in the weekend apparently. How do you manage to visit site in the weekend after all the doors are installed? Or do you always take time off work to meet SS during weekdays? Re: Henley Homes 2298Sep 22, 2016 6:27 pm Also, I noticed that in our house (under construction) the sound from people walking on the first floor is very obvious on the ground floor. We have not installed carpet though. SS says that the normal insulation batts for thermal purposes in the subfloor (between first floor and ground floor ceiling) won't help at all in blocking the sound, which I understand. But he goes on to say that even if clients choose to put in acoustic insulation batts in the subfloor, they won't help too much either because of the timber joists, and that carpet with good underlay will be much more effective in blocking the sound than acoustic batts in the subfloor. Is that true? Do you find the sound from people walking on the first floor obvious to the ground floor? Does carpet help much? Did you install any insulation batts in the subfloor, and how effective is that in blocking sound? Re: Henley Homes 2299Sep 22, 2016 6:32 pm Good question. Currently we planning to put in subfloor acoustic batts and laminated flooring on top floor. Would like to hear if anyone found acoustic batts effective and whether its worth the upgrade? Can't help regarding the acoustic batts but regarding carpets, we had cat 1 carpets and standard underlay upstairs and yes you can hear everything everytime someone walks or the kids going nuts upstairs. With the new build we have upgraded to better carpets cat 3 and cat 2 underlay, not up to that stage yet so can't tell if that will help or not.... LOL if the house is going to be locked on the weekend then yes definitely make an appointment with your SS for a walk through. Why not try anyways? There's always bound to be one door unlock some weeks.. even not you can see a little bit from windows? We always went up every weekend even if it was locked. But it gives you a better feeling when the house is actually locked cause it means they are doing their job by making sure we're locked out haha!
