I just ducked down to Laminex to get a sample of the silk range. It seems like a candidate as an alternative to the diamond gloss. Have you had the White Silk kitchen priced yet? I have put the white satin and white diamond gloss side by side. There is not a significant difference; just a bit more shine with the gloss product. We own land :)*PICS* 26May 16, 2014 7:21 pm Woohoo happy to update and say that we have settled and are now officially land owners!!! This week we have settled, paid the local infrastructure levy and are now awaiting next lot of soil tests from Metricon. Then we will lock in contract signing appointment and tile selections. We are beyond excited about settlement, it feels like a weight lifted off our shoulders after SUCH a long wait! Can I ask what your flooring is? We are trying to figure out if we are going to go with the promo flooring special or get our own. Re: Our Metricon Santorini! Developer Approval *PICS* 30Jun 10, 2014 8:21 pm Updates, updates, updates!!!! Soil tests are done, final contract with Metricon is signed, tile appointment next week. Plans have been submitted to our developer for approval which apparently is taking about 10 days, then we are on track for our building permit. Feels like time is going soooo slow!!! I am really hoping it will start in the next 2 weeks but bot sure what the likelihood is there. Had our tile appointment and managed no upgrades so no extra cost is great. Developer Approval *PICS* 35Jul 11, 2014 8:01 pm Hi Shambini, yes we restrained however the bulk of the house is in timber laminate! We would have loved tiles throughout but budget just wasn't permitting, and since timber laminate was included we figured we can rip up and lay tiles in 5-10 years if we want to. So the only tiles we had to select were wet areas and some splashbacks Will post pics! My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70636&p=1161767#p1161767 Re: Our Metricon Santorini! Building permit any day now! *PI 36Jul 11, 2014 8:12 pm Finally some updates! So I have been MIA on this thread and the forums and general because as I am sure we can all understand there are some very difficult times with the building process and I just couldn't face it for a few weeks But things seem to be on the up now and feeling positive again. We had our contract signing with Metricon and it did not go exactly as planned. The morning we arrived we were advised that they had charged us for the time delayed by the developer at a rate of $1000 a month. We were fully aware that this was in the contract, however we did not at all appreciate being advised of this very significant extra cost when we arrived. As far as we are concerned we should have been told prior. We were then expected to come up with more money for their deposit on the spot. We were really disappointed with the way that they dealt with this. After that, we had dramas and a battle with the builder of our neighbouring property who took the liberty of using our vacant block as their dumping ground and delivery area. Deliveries I might not mind so much - but the piles of soil from their site scrape was really not ok. After over 20 phone calls and emails to this builder it has finally been cleared tonight. As for our build, the building permit was expected back this week however there has been no contact from our CSS regarding this so we are left in limbo this weekend We were supposed to sign off on final plans but are waiting for some explanations on why things have been changed before we will sign. Every house around us is up to frame stage so it is a bit disheartening considering we were the first to purchase land there, but our time will come. I really hope I will be sharing photos of a site scrape in 2 weeks time!! My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70636&p=1161767#p1161767 Re: Our Metricon Santorini! Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17895 If this is a custom build then I would expect the builder to set out the door frame closer to the wall to avoid the gap between architrave and the wall and or specify… 9 8324 |
