Building permit any day now! *PI 42Jul 13, 2014 8:07 pm We're looking at building with Metricon (the Laguna). So far they seem fairly up-front about costs. Have you found this to be the case so far? We're trying to determine if we'll get any surprises with the final cost. Thanks Re: Our Metricon Santorini! At tender they added about 9k in costs for double glazed windows. BLOG: http://www.ourphoenix38.blogspot.com.au H1 THREAD: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70454 Re: Our Metricon Santorini! Building permit any day now! *PI 44Jul 13, 2014 9:09 pm Thanks Shambini, that's helpful - good to know their cost is fairly close (hopefully we don't need double-glazing!). There are other options to pass energy requirements. We took out the double glazing and paid $1k for a deems to comply certificate. Overall we are happy with metricon though and glad we are building with them. Great news - our building permit has now been issued. Should go to site within 2 weeks - im hoping for 1 week hehe!!!! Building permit approved!!! *PIC 48Jul 16, 2014 12:02 pm Thanks Shambini!! Absolutely thrilled!! Just something has come up this morning. We have just had another variation to our final plans. We purchased a package which included concrete paving to the alfresco area. The drafting team have now said that due to the site survey they want to make the alfresco integrated into the house slab. This will be at no extra cost to us. I really don't know much about this - I am assuming the concrete paving is similar to like a footpath and would be at a low level, and obviously I can imagine what it being part of the slab would look like. They said it will be better for stability of the slab to have it integrated. Any opinions on this? I don't really know enough about it to feel confident in signing off on it? I think it would actually be to your benefit as the slab is thicker than aggregate concrete. The level of excitement around our build feels so nice after such a very long wait. I don't have any pics on the iPad but will look forward to hopefully sharing some next week. This week we have had our meter box installed and our plumbing was done today. This was a lovely surprise as it was not expected to happen until Monday. Our site supervisor is so far great and we have heard from him nearly every day. We also got to meet our neighbors today and they were lovely. We are hopeful that things will stay on track for our slab to be poured by the end of next week. I cannot even explain how excited I am to see the frame go up and our dream home take shape!!!!!!! Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17880 If this is a custom build then I would expect the builder to set out the door frame closer to the wall to avoid the gap between architrave and the wall and or specify… 9 8317 |
