Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 11, 2014 10:02 pm I am excited to think it is finally time to start a build thread for our build after patiently waiting and watching everyone else's houses go up!!
My husband and I are building the beautiful Metricon Santorini 31sq version. We bought our block over a year ago and now are expecting the developers to apply for title any day now - although we were expecting for the build to be nearly finished by now with the timeline the developers initially gave us!! Guess there are no guarantees in the building game!! We initially found the Santorini while looking at displays for landscaping ideas for the house we were in at the time, back in April 2012. We fell in love with the house instantly and just couldn't let it go, so within the year we had sold our house, bought a block and moved into a rental! It has been an exciting (but very slow) process and we are pretty keen and very impatient for things to start happening! Can't wait to share the build process with you all! Re: Our Metricon Santorini! - waiting impatiently for title 2Apr 11, 2014 11:25 pm Congratulations on finally (almost) settling on your land! It must feel like a weight off ur shoulders. So will Metricon be on site straight after? Keep us posted! Great house design, never saw it before but too big for our land anyways. Second Build, this time with Carlisle 2016, can't wait! It has been a long wait so we are just hoping so much that things start to happen quickly from here. We only have contract and tile selections stages to go with the builder so I hope they will be building straight away when we settle on the land. We were asked to go to contract before title but decided not to as they have not yet been able to do soil tests and wanted fixed site costs before going to final contract. We are so in love with this house and can't wait to be in so it is worth the wait. We love having people over and entertaining and we feel this house is perfect for that! I asked our sales consultant which is the most popular Metricon design and he said the Santorini. We have just had our soil test and contour survey completed and are now patiently waiting for the verdict re site costs. Ours is a little different as it is a knock down and rebuild. We hate the not knowing we have felt like our life is really on hold waiting for it all to happen. Shambini are you building with Metricon? I hope your site costs come in low or as you expected My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70636&p=1161767#p1161767 Re: Our Metricon Santorini! - waiting impatiently for title 7Apr 14, 2014 8:45 pm Good stuff We are also awaiting soil tests etc; have tender presentation booked in for mid May - hopefully the site costs come in low. Does anyone know how much these vary in comparison to the initial estimates provided in the initial estimate? Apparently the sales consultants provide worst case figures? thanks Metricon Glendale 38 - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75696&p=1298363#p1298363 Selections: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75696&start=60 Tiles - p25 Re: Our Metricon Santorini! - waiting impatiently for title 8Apr 15, 2014 10:11 am Monalisa I'm not 100% sure due to not having our final tests yet but so far ours have been the opposite. Our sales person quoted $12-15k and at our preliminary contract it had gone up to $19k. Changed this when we noticed there is nowhere good to put the light switch with double doors - bifolds from dining to alfresco - replace window at the back of the rumpus with stackers And plan is flipped for our block. Stacker doors are good value option as alternative to bifolds. Are you having wood or aluminium stackers? BLOG: http://www.ourphoenix38.blogspot.com.au H1 THREAD: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70454 That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17740 If this is a custom build then I would expect the builder to set out the door frame closer to the wall to avoid the gap between architrave and the wall and or specify… 9 8287 |
