Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building wisdom homes ambassador? 61Jun 01, 2015 1:56 pm Thanks carix, that has been very helpful The Liberty is the exact Metricon House that we were looking at. I haven't seen in in person but plan to visit the display close to where I live tomorrow. I agree about the upstairs, slightly bigger bedrooms and the additional ensuite is a bonus. We also prefer the master bed at the back of the house. We would love to add the balcony but I would rather consider other areas first (although my partner wants the balcony as we have a golf course view!) The built in cabinets in the Media room and leisure room is the cabinetry I was referring to. We were told that by the time we went out and got quotes and so forth it wouldn't be that much cheaper to what we pay the builder. Wow $24,000 on electrical....we have out in $6,000....think we may need to consider that. Is lighting the majority of the cost in regard to electricals? Thanks again! Looking forward to hearing about your kitchen appointment! Re: Anyone building wisdom homes ambassador? 62Jun 01, 2015 11:44 pm Our cabinetry (kitchen, laundry and we converted the alcove in the kitchen which is just more cupboards in the display house to a small study nook, as well as the media rooms cabinet, bathrooms) all up is about $25k. This also include 2 tone kitchen and 2waterfall sides to the island bench. We also doubled the 40mm bench top to have 80mm. Added overhead cabinetry in butlers pantry. WIP doors to look like kitchen cabinets. This picture was my big driver... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I'd say get that balcony on top of the garage!! we have a forest across the road from our block and will have views of the sunset and can see down a small little valley. Just think of sundowner cocktails and the views you'll have There are 2 Liberty display homes. The one close to Penrith (I think it's Mulgoa Rise) was much nicer in my opinion. So if you just want to see one I think thy one compares better with the Ambassador. The downstairs guest bedroom is bigger and I liked that more but I like the fact that door to the room in the ambassador is around the corner. I don't like walking into a house and see a bedroom first thing. For me a bedroom is a private space even if it is a guess room. And if guests keep it untidy I don't want to see it!! Let me know if you have any questions! Happy to help! Re: Anyone building wisdom homes ambassador? 63Jun 02, 2015 1:16 pm Hi Carix, We are looking to get overhead cabinets in out butlers pantry on the Ambassador 36 - can i ask what the cost for this was? We have allocated $3k for it and i think that should be enough but never know. Re: Anyone building wisdom homes ambassador? 64Jun 02, 2015 2:17 pm Greg_K Hi Carix, We are looking to get overhead cabinets in out butlers pantry on the Ambassador 36 - can i ask what the cost for this was? We have allocated $3k for it and i think that should be enough but never know. It will depend on the style, colour and finish you pick too. We had our consult with knebel. We picked the shark edge style cabinets in white polyurethane and for this the overhead cupboards are $1885. Re: Anyone building wisdom homes ambassador? 65Jun 02, 2015 4:50 pm Thanks Carix......mmmmm maybe I can increase that $15,000 to at least 20,000! Sounds like you have got a lot for the $25,000, most of which I would like too, except we will just have the 40mm benchtops as I prefer the thinner look. Did you increase the size of the island bench at all? What is the standard size? We will also get the study nook, this will be perfect for cooking dinner while helping kids with homework. So the media unit is included in that? I have that listed separately so that's great if it is! Re: Anyone building wisdom homes ambassador? 66Jun 02, 2015 7:39 pm No the media unit is separate to the above - $3650. The laundry cabinets are about $2300 and the little study nook with 20mm caesarstone is $1700. All the prices depends on the style and finish of the doors you pick as well as the range of the caesarstone. Very happy we got feedback today that they will fix our plans and move the kitchen window towards the living room in order to fit the microwave tower Re: Anyone building wisdom homes ambassador? 69Jun 02, 2015 9:54 pm Thanks Carix, we are after normal handles and in laminate as we are going for the poly-urethane for the bottom row and laminate for the top. I see you mentioned your laundry cabinets were $2300, is that the same cabinetry that is in the Ambassador 41 display home? We were allocated $3300 for that from Wisdom, does that mean it will come in cheaper or is that an addition you had ontop? Thanks again for your response. Re: Anyone building wisdom homes ambassador? 72Jun 02, 2015 10:01 pm They asked us in the colour consultation if we would want that. I didn't want glass as per the display home but liked the idea of it looking like the rest of the kitchen. Our kitchen is all white polyurethane with no handles. (This is what they refer to as the shark edge or something) Re: Anyone building wisdom homes ambassador? 73Jun 02, 2015 10:51 pm Carix No the media unit is separate to the above - $3650. Re: Anyone building wisdom homes ambassador? 75Jun 26, 2015 5:19 pm Hey Greg k, thanks for the advice regarding bulkhead. In terms of the bathroom vanities you're building an ambassador 36 right? Assuming no changes to bathroom sizes, could you pls let me know what size your vanities come back as? When I got my drawings the vanities in the ensuite 2 and 3 were smaller than in the building plans. When I questioned them they said that wisdoms drawings are wrong. When I asked wisdom they just said that the kitchen company will change plans to suit. Seriously, that's not right! If the vanities need to be a certain size then surely wisdoms drawings could be done correctly in the first place. The ensuite 2 (jack and Jill bathroom) vanity is 650mm! It only JUST fits the square basin that comes standard. Where would the kids put their toothbrushes??? So I'm really curious to see what you get as I know we are both building the 36. I feel like the kitchen company just wants to cut their costs as much as possible and provide the least amount of materials! Rant over. Thanks! Re: Anyone building wisdom homes ambassador? 80Jun 30, 2015 3:00 pm Lstr123, wow you're close to PC how exciting! I don't know if I asked you but how long from site start to completion? What size is your ambassador? And did you have issues with the vanity widths being one thing and then the kitchen company changing it? Ie. Original building plan dimensions incorrect? Can someone please offer some advice? Im DESPERATE. Because I'm completely and utterly exhausted. How long are variations taking with other companies at the moment?
