Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 12, 2014 10:50 am Hi everyone! I have just found this site and have spent most of the day reading through forums full of fantastic information. We are building the byford glades display in hammond park and will be booking into prestart shortly. I want to be super super organised and know what my costs are before the day. Does anyone know if I can email prestart before the meeting to get some estimates. I want to upgrade my tiles and want to know what sort of price I will be looking at. Any other tips would be VERY VERY greatful as we have never done anything like this and feel quite lost! Re: Aveling Prestart 2Apr 16, 2014 1:11 pm Hi Kirsten8 and welcome to the forum. I would suggest you ring Aveling and ask them, though I don't know how accommodating they would be in supplying prices. When we did prestart, we just upgraded everything we wanted and then culled the list when they provided the itemised costings. In regards to your tiles, they would have had an allowance say $40pm 200x200mm tiles. Upgrading means paying the difference in tile cost plus an extra cost for laying non standard tiles. I can tell you that I chose 300x600 tiles (one of which retailed at $130pm) and paid and extra $5400. Had I taken it to full height tiling it would have cost $17500 instead! We have purchased the extra tiles ourselves and will tile the remainder after handover. Good to know is that Aveling will allow you to supply one item OR one trade only. We would have done the tiling ourselves except we were already supplying the kitchen appliances. Good luck and if you have any other questions, let me know. I can give you guides as to upgrade prices, though a lot of our items which were upgrades in their packages came as standard for our home. One is the tiles you want and the other is the builders standard or your cheaper option. Then you can get them both priced up and decide after prestart which ones you want. I also wanted full height tiling but it was a crazy price. From memory we had 600x300 porcelain tiles in the kitchen plus some feature tiling in the bathroom and wood look tiles in the ensuite. The extra cost was $700. I would have liked to go full height too but we spent a fortune on reshuffling the plan and upgrading the kitchen. Ps. We were never told that we could supply one of our own trades or bring in our own choices on one item Re: Aveling Prestart 6Apr 23, 2014 11:02 pm We wanted to find out the tiling cost before prestart too so we knew what we had left to play with, unfortunately we couldn't get a price until after as they said it depended on the type of tile choose etc. we ended up going with 300x300 rectified porcelain on the floors and bath and then 300 x 600 plain white tile for the walls with feature tiling in the showers this came in at $1800 which we were ok with, we had picked a back up tile just in case. Hi Everyone, wondering if anyone has done a prestart lately with summit homes in WA and what kind of costs were associated with adding gpo's and downlights? we are also… 0 3848 |
