Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 06, 2006 11:57 am Has anybody had any dealings with Hometec or seen any of their finished houses. They have some very different floorplans. Just not sure on the quality. ALternatively Vogue Domain Living have very tradiitonal floorplans but the quality looks good. Hometech 2Oct 06, 2006 2:43 pm When we were looking to build our first home we were going to go with Hometech but there was some problem in their drafting office at the time and they couldn't get their act together in providing us a revised plan. In the end we said "forget it".
There was a Hometech house being built not too far from us and it took a very long time to build (over a year I think). I think the owners got into an arguement as to who was causing the delay but it was resolved. From what I have seen the company has grown very fast which may cause some problems as to quality and completion date. If you are going to build with them make sure you get some references and double the liquidated damages clause in the contract. Re: Any information on Hometec or Vogue 3Oct 07, 2006 9:27 am I do not know Vogue but I have seen most of Hometec display homes (double storey ones) in the SE region and have actually got them to do soil test and quote. My personal view is that they try to design and build homes that are bordering on modern look which includes squre set cornices, colourful tiles and wall paint etc. I actually quite like the floor plan of a couple of them but dislike all the fascades that they offer including those optional and expensive ones. Like all other builders, all optional items and upgrades are expensive. Regarding the build quality of the display homes, I would say they are average because I have seen better quality dispay homes. Regarding dealing with them, only up to stage 1, I had a sales person who was very responsive and keen but not too knowledgeable and therefore she had to refer to her office for most of the queries and that took time. BTW, they are one of the very few builders who are willing to build with stumps or sub floors but not cheap. Re: Any information on Hometec or Vogue 4Oct 08, 2006 7:42 am Thank you. Can you recommend who to look at for good quality display homes. Not knowing anything much about building I'm not prepared to take a risk with companies who may build questionable quality. Re: Any information on Hometec or Vogue 5Oct 08, 2006 5:47 pm Wsa out checking colors today in the display home we are building. Got talking to a couple and they just walked away from Homtec, loosing some money. Not sure if true, or of details, just what I heard. no reason sgiven, but I didnt ask.

I'm new to this forum and I am also interested in knowing anything about Hometec & Simonds. We are interested in one of each of their home designs (double storey - approx 50sqs), but would like to know from previous 'customers' before we take it any further. We are at quotation stage with both of them but I'm a little weary of building with a 'display home' building company. So any words of wisdom or advise on both companies would be very much appreciated. PS. This is a terrific site & forum! reply 7Dec 12, 2008 5:27 pm I have gone through some of their display homes..
