Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 10, 2014 6:23 am Hi. Currently building with a volume builder who have recently informed me that they are ceasing work due to discovery of buried asbestos roughly 600mm deep. This was discovered during the excavation for the foundation. Apparently there are lots of pieces of old asbestos ceiling sheets. The only option they are giving me is to completely remediate the site eg remove all the soil and replace it with new soil. This too me seems way to extreme and costly. Has anyone been in this situation or have any advice that may help? Currently building in Melbourne's inner West.
