Hi cat_dunc,
Is your retaining wall finish yet?
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Moved in! 1022Mar 06, 2016 8:16 am Nah not yet. We've got one row of blocks down on one side. It's slow going over here! We had someone else help us lay the first row. Turns out the original concreter did an ordinary job and was so out that we had mortar at 30mm thick at one end and 70mm thick at the other just to get the wall level. On top of that to get the wall straight we had to cut out reinforcement so the blocks could go on as the reo wasn't laid out straight. I'd not recommend him to anyone lucky that section of the wall is pretty low. We then got the following building variation mid construction, they claimed it costs $700 more but were not charging us. All the specs are the same other than the code. This is the one we got: Provide 1No. 410L Rheem 511410/3NPT Solar Loline (Electric boost) hot water unit, in lieu of standard specification inclusion. - Capacity: 410 Litres (285 Litres Booster Capacity) - controller kit - 3 x Solar Collector Panels - 7 year manufacturer warranty - Suitable for 3 - 6 people (Moderate Climate) NOTE: Excludes Renewable Energy Certificate Rebates (Price includes rebates (if applicable) to be released to HWU manufacturer) The unit works great, very hot water. We've only turned the booster on a few times in which case it's not as hot. It might require a lot of boosting in winter, we'll see. Hopefully not Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Post build works - Ikea PAX Wardro 1024Mar 24, 2016 3:14 pm We've made progress! First our magnificent PAX Took out the shelves they provided, ripped off the timber supports: Decided due to their height of 2300 we'd make them inside the robe: Pushed them into place: We didn't think the planning through too much. This is the light switch: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Post build works - Ikea PAX 1025Mar 24, 2016 3:22 pm And now it's finished! I'm MADLY in love. I stop and look every time I walk into the bedroom My side still needs two more shoe trays above those two at the end and a hanger at the end up the top. Both sides still need the pull out belt/tie hooks attached (currently on the ground). My side: His side: Light switch solution The units fit with about 4mm to spare. Initially it was unplanned, still amazed to this day how well it worked out! See that tiny little gap Snug as a bug: All up this cost $1,840. We'll put a mirror at the end covering that gap, and ohhh I'd love a chandelier or some sparkly girly light fitting. Quality wise the surface is pretty soft so we just have to be careful with sharp items.. my Dad got carried away opening a box and scratched the front of a slider. It's certainly got nothing on the quality of the bathroom and kitchen cabinets which are leagues better. But for us it's perfect <3 Re: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Post build works - retaining w 1026Mar 24, 2016 3:29 pm Wow that looks fab. We got some quotes for built-ins and it was like $9k!! definitely going to check IKEA out Yikes We didn't get any other quotes and I do sometimes wonder how it would have compared. Looks like maybe we did pretty good! If you go Ikea definitely check out the pull out jewelry and accessory drawers. Those and the shoe racks are my favourite parts. I'd put up a picture but my jewelry collection is pretty random, things from high school, broken necklaces I can't seem to part with Re: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Post build works - retaining w 1029Mar 24, 2016 3:45 pm Don't we all have those random pieces we never wear but can't seem get rid of! viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Post build works - retaining w 1031Mar 24, 2016 6:32 pm What a fantastic idea of ikea pax I am just going to do the same.... you are so brilliant with creativity . Without doors or with? And how big is the area roughly. Sorry for all the q's! Great work on retaining walls. viewtopic.php?=31&t=81624 Re: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Post build works - retaining w 1034Mar 24, 2016 8:37 pm Leksie5000 Hi cAt was that your WIR that was $1840? Did you get PAX frames? Without doors or with? And how big is the area roughly. Sorry for all the q's! Hey Leksie No problem, ask as many as want. It was $1,890 all up (just confirmed the price). That included 6 x (75x236x58 cm) "PAX Wardrobe Frame"s plus all the drawers, shelves, shoe racks, rails and sliders you see (plus 3 others I'm going to exchange). The "Pax Wardrobe Frames" are the six carcasses we have that the drawers and shelves go in. I picked these from the "frames for hinged doors" menu in the Pax Planner. We didn't buy any doors to put on them. The drawers, shelves, etc are all items that the pax planner allows you to put in those carcasses. You chose colour and accessories as you build it. Then when you finish you press print and it gives you a full list of items with codes that you take direct to the staff at Ikea. Our wardrobe is 2,260mm deep x 2,020mm wide. So that just let 3 x 75cm long frames fit longwise. It was by pure chance that they fit, I dont remember doing that on purpose. We also have 2.7 high ceilings so we chose the 2.36 high frames. We made sure to look closely at our previous wardrobe - counted the number of drawers we'd each need, how long our hanging clothes were and allowed for those measurements in the Pax Planner. I originally got myself 3 shoe racks but one is damaged so I need to take it back. Figure I'll swap out a shelf space for an extra shoe rack while I'm back exchanging it These are screen shots from our final plan though I changed it a little bit as we built it: This is where you do the Pax Planning: http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_AU/rooms_ideas/planner_pax3d/index.html If you need help or have any more questions feel free to ask. I'm no expert but I spent a bit of time looking at it as we planned ours Re: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Post build works - retaining w 1035Mar 24, 2016 8:40 pm I should add for anyone planning their Ikea fit out - make sure you wait til it's built as you need to allow for plasterboard (and skirtings if you don't take them off) which is not included in the measurements on your plans. I'm no expert but I spent a bit of time looking at it as we planned ours Thanks a lot for your help. So the $1840 was for the WIR and your linen then (?). That's what I wanted to know as we've been quoted $1200 for a custom fit out for our WIR and $1800 would have been more costly. Was it hard to put together. Have you been helping move the blocks? Hubs and I did a block wall at our last place, at the start I couldn`t pick up a block, then by the end of the project I could lift them lol. Definitely a good workout indeed. I love your robe! Hubs and I are going to do ours after handover. Thanks for the link, I`m going to have a play My Homeone Thread - Re: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Post build works - retaining w 1038Mar 25, 2016 6:27 am Lovely PAX! And so good it fit so well! I did play with the planner but couldn't make it work well. Too many gaps. And ended up just putting an old ikea expedit we already had and added drawers and placed in the standard WI robe. Re: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Post build works - retaining w 1039Mar 25, 2016 9:18 am Well done catdunc on the WIR, we are planning to use Ikea on ours too.
How long did it take you to assemble them? Thanks for the link, I will check it asap! Re: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Post build works - retaining w 1040Mar 25, 2016 11:29 am Thanks everyone Leksie - that's only for the walk in robe fit out. Though you'd need to plan yours in the PAX planner to see how it compares. We might have more drawers or whatever than you need so yours may be cheaper - or maybe dearer! EPaul & Leksie, it was actually really easy to put together. The hardest part was motivating my husband to help me with the 6 huge carcass frames. They were WAY too heavy for me to do on my own. Dad assembled a couple drawers, but over all I assembled and put in the rest (drawers, shoe racks etc) by myself. Took maybe 4 hours to do the carcassess and about the same for rest. Might've been quicker if we didn't have kids and beers at different times while doing it 2 10986 Excellent, thanks for the tip ... not in Sydney, but I might give the Dy Mark a try, cheers 2 1345 |
