Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 08, 2014 7:39 pm Hi, We are new to the forum. We are looking at purchasing a block of land in Brisbane and with that trying to work out a rough idea of costs. We have managed to get most info but are struggling to find decent info on foundation. The house we are looking to build is a modular steel of 160m2. Would a concrete slab or concrete pad footing be best? And could anyone offer a rough estimate as to cost for each for a 160m2? Thanks Re: Foundation Costs: Slab or Pad Footing 2Apr 08, 2014 8:05 pm Cost will be dependent on ground conditions as slabs are designed to match what's the soil is like and whether there is any fill on site. As far as choice between slap or Pad(I assume you are talking about strip foundations under the walls) I would go for slab unless I was planning to do all the work myself. Slabs seem very popular with the builders which gives you the idea there are cost benefits in that method. I have a build excavation calculator you can use based on your plans to double check what your builder is telling you. Cheers Simeon 1 10171 I've dug some footings to embed a post anchor into. My holes are around 450mm deep which I'll put a 200mm stirrup into. The bottom of these holes seem firm enough. … 0 3292 |
