Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 06, 2014 5:00 pm Hi all, Let me first begin by introducing ourselfs. My name is Brian and my wifes name is Kara. We bought a block on Vines street and the land just got registered and cant wait to start the building process. I have been reading the forum and you guys are all so helpful to one another and I thought what a place to ask some questions. I am curious about when you draw up your landscape design, a plan for water drainage must be added to the design as to Vermont/Hawksbury council requirments. I am curious as to where you get that information as I am sure you would need to know which way your land slopes in order to know that? I plan to be spending a lot of time on this site and hopefully getting to know my neighbors and from what ive been reading everyone seems to be so helpful cant wait to move in! Brian and Kara Re: building on Vines street 2Apr 06, 2014 8:29 pm Hi cudaguy77, Did you get a survey as part of your land sales contract? The registered DP plan will show your site boundaries etc. but not contours. I would have a look through all your paperwork and see if you have a plan that shows either contours or at least spot heights on your block. If you don't have one then you will need to get a survey done. Your builder will need one anyway to get Council approval for your future house. This is a good starting point then for working on your landscape plan and drainage plan. I hope this helps. Cheers, Jenny. Need hints, tips and inspiration? I'm thinking of installing an electric gate in front of this street front villa (link below). The gate would be between the bush on the left and the letter box on… 0 2778 Thanks! I'm spoke to the builder I'm not sure if this is all true but basically went along the lines of they considered all options and if I was to compact and fill it… 2 7299 |
