Hey guys and girls,
Been stalking on here a while so decided to create an account and start the obligatory build thread. We are first time builders but 3rd time buyers, We are still early days but we've selected and secured our block in The Eyrie at Laurimar in Doreen and selected the house we like.
We got lucky on the land I think as it's nice and flat, east west facing (living areas will all face north) and is in a great location on weaver street.
We went through a whole raft of houses too, started in singles with Burbank and liked the layout of the Yale 2800 but none of the displays in Melbourne have it built as it is on the plan, stupid. We then thought maybe going double storey and smaller block but finding the block in the price range in Mernda/Doreen that would fit the Forrester 39 proved difficult as most had 3m+ of fall which blew the site costs right out.
Back to singles we went and we decided to look at other builders, Henley ticked all the boxes and fit the budget but we still had a $2000 discount offered at Burbank so we shopped the Ascent 29 and Monaco against each other as they are pretty much the same house.
The Henley one due to slightly larger rooms and living areas and also feeling like it was finished better, plus after all inclusion added including double glazing and upping the insulation (should help it to get to a 7 star rating if not higher) the Henley was still cheaper.
Anyway watch this space as the pics of everything are sure to follow once we get the ball rolling completely after land titles etc.
