It came by the bucket load. Kids made an ice snowman our lawn at our rental was completely whited out with hail. Hope the shed stood up well. Love the exposed aggregate concrete driveway and path's. A couple of new builds in our street have just had it put in. Got me thinking we might use it. I stopped and asked the concreter how much roughly per Mt2, and he told me around $90, with out site works - eg bobcat leveling. I thought that was a bit much but by the time you buy some nice pavers, then if you pay someone to lay them it's probably not to bad. Is that price in the ball park to what you were charged? Thanks, I like aggregate concrete. Ours worked out to around $100 per sqm including earthworks. You can do concrete paving for around $70 sqm. It really is a matter of preference. We are laying 300 by 600 granite pavers in our backyard and it will cost about $110 per sqm. We are about to move our youngest into a big boy bed too. As for your back yard just as I thought amazing, the pool is huge, is that grey granite coping? That's what we are using. I love the front; the side garden and the steps look so good. You must be so pleased Re: Metricon Phoenix Adelaide - pics galore 1704Sep 17, 2015 3:52 pm Princess Jasmine Hi Shambini, firstly I have to say that I love your sons room I bet he is very happy to have a big boy bed now (I noticed in a previous pic that he was in a cot). The pool is big and I have now realised how much work they are. It doesn't help that I am obsessed with getting the water crystal clear. Yes, the coping is 300 by 600 granite with polished edges. We purchased it from Urbanstone. Plus we've all had the dreadfull flu and finally getting back to normal. We are also getting our granite from Urban Stone we will use it for coping, around the pool and around the back of the house (exposed aggregate to driveway and front of the house). Are you doing glass fencing? It looks fantastic you must keep it that way. We are getting a single flat top black tubular fence. I can't wait to see yours finished Re: Metricon Phoenix Adelaide - pics galore 1708Oct 11, 2015 5:49 pm I must say the exposed aggregate looks fantastic - beautiful colours Can I ask who you used? Not cheap but takes the load off the air conditioning and makes upstairs more comfortable so will pay for itself over time. I would recommend the investment. The guy we are using to do 170sqm of paving and retaining walls has turned out to be a dud. We have used him before on small jobs and he was good but this time around, we are just frustrated. He started three weeks later than what he said he would. Then he told me the job would be finished in three weeks. We are now at four weeks and only 30% of the job has been finished. The slow progress is due to many days of not showing up and others of 2 or 3 hours of work. We are having some artificial turf and sir walter buffalo installed by a different landscaper who also does paving. He is very good. We are going to be having a side discussion with him to see if he can finish the job. If so, I will tell the other guy to come and collect his tools. The joys of building!!! Are you happy with it? We defiantly need something thing. Oh damn about the slack landscaper. It must be painful to watch no progress and false promises, I hope your turf man can do the lot and you can get on with it all. I can't say I'm loving the slow progress at our place either Re: Metricon Phoenix Adelaide - landscaping 1714Nov 04, 2015 1:16 pm Tribe7 Just read your update about the sola star roof vent, it sounds like a really good purchase. I can't say I'm loving the slow progress at our place either I can highly recommend a solar roof vent. The difference in temperature on the second level is substantial after install. Prior to the roof vent, it was uncomfortable upstairs even on a 25 degree day - we have a colorbond roof but added sarking to reflect the heat. We had a chat with the other landscaper but he cant start for another month, so we will persist with the slow guy. I will just annoy the _ _ _ _ out of him until the job is finished. I need the M site supervisor to help me get these guys back into line. Your progress outside looks good - certainly not afraid of getting your hands dirty. I will be glad when I can stop counting the amount of soil that I have shifted with a shovel and wheelbarrow by the tonne. Am going to organize a quote and see what the actual damage is. We have been hitting 34 most days lately and it's quite warm upstairs, we have tiles and full wall and ceiling insulation but it's still stuffy. Have you got eave vents? That's unfortunate the speedy guy can't start sooner, ride the slow guy or can you with hold the payments until he is finished. Thanks we are getting there with the landscaping now. I like getting my hands dirty and it saves us heaps of $$$, I'll second that moving soil is getting old, we have 12 cubes of top soil coming next week for our turf. Can't say I'm thrilled about shoveling it though. Our solar vent was $850, which sounds expensive but is reasonable given that it is equal to 15 whirlybirds. We are sticking with ultra slow guy and keeping on his back. When he didn't turn up one day this week I left around four voicemails and sent three sms'. The tone in my messages gradually changed over the day. Thing improved later in the week. He worked at our house from 8am to 2pm before rushing to another job, which is a good effort for him. Our pool, additional garden and more lawn is up four steps to a higher level due to the site cut. I asked the guy working at our house how much soil I need for the new garden bed. I was planning on getting it up there by hand (not sure how with retraining wall and pool fence). He said four tonne - no way I am getting it up there by hand. Luckily I offered a bit of cash to get him to shift it there with his bobcat. Saves my back. I will take some more photos in a few weeks. We are almost finished the landscaping. We have 900sqm of land so it is taking a while. Oh and the cost of the landscaping has blown out by about 40%. To put things into perspective, total landscaping cost is around the equivalent of 40% of the Metricon build cost. That does however, include a pool, aggregate concrete, artificial turf, real turf, 170sqm granite paving, retaining walls, new boundary fence, pool fence, garden feature lighting, a LOT of plants, custom benches etc. We have made sure that we invest in the landscaping so that it is a feature. Investing in some detailed plans drawn by a landscape architect from the beginning was a good idea because we are very happy with how the design has crystallised. It has kept us focussed.
