Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 01, 2014 8:42 pm Hi all, We've paid initial deposit to get soil test and contour survey for our knockdown rebuild in Ryde. We originally had our hearts set on the Laguna until we saw the floor plan of the Hudson. It's not on display so wondering if anyone is building or has built it? There's also a current promotion on render on Hebel. We love the rendered look and for $11,900 on double storey, it sounds like a good price? Can anyone provide any feedback, good or bad on the Hebel panel system? Thanks Re: Anyone building Metricon Hudson? 2Apr 01, 2014 11:13 pm Hi Sheilzy, We are building the Laguna as a kdr in Chatswood. We just got the keys this week. We built the entire outside using the Hebel panels with a rendered coating. The cost of the rendered Hebel was significantly lower than rendered brick when we were shopping. Metricon was running a promotion on Hebel at the time and we saw advantages in using the product because we are on a narrow lot. It is worthwhile searching the forums on Hebel as there is a fair bit of material out there. We are very happy with how it turned out but like any building material there are advantages and disadvantages that need to be weighed. To compare the cost we asked for a compare with rendered brick. Overall we are very happy with the build and we have been very pleased with the Metricon experience. I will post some photos soon. Feel free to message me if you have questions and all the best with it. Re: Anyone building Metricon Hudson? 3Apr 02, 2014 8:02 am Hi Dan, thanks for the feedback. I've been researching the pros and cons of rendered Hebel and we're swaying towards it over brick. How exciting for you and your family to have keys. Great to hear you had a good building experience with Metricon. We love the Laguna on display at Kellyville but we love the floor plan of the Hudson better. We're building the 42 modifying it to turn the study into a 5th bedroom and adding an alfresco and a balcony off the master bedroom. So far so good for us, but then again we're only in the early stages. Did your build run on time? Looking forward to seeing pics of your home! Thanks Re: Anyone building Metricon Hudson? 4Apr 04, 2014 10:37 pm Hi Sheilzy, our build ran on time. We started last August and just got the keys. The industry shuts down over Christmas and there is less activity over that time. It did take a while to get to the starting line because of some complexities around our approvals but once the work started it went very quickly.
