Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 30, 2014 4:43 pm You can see my entire story on "the adventure begins" but woke up this morning with yet another problem. Water pouring through my daughters ceiling. Turns out after tilers were on the roof fixing the last leak they cracked a tile and after recent heavy rain the water got in and ran down the sarking till it reached the valley iron and has dropped through a nail hole into the ceiling. So while we have been in this place for nearly 12 months we still have not had all the items on our 3 month service list delt with this is another to be added. There is not enough storage space on the World Wide Web to list all the problems with this build but I can't understand why 15 years ago we built with Beachwood Homes with no problems. We paid the money and picked up the keys 3 months later and never had a problem so what the hell is going on these days. I should know as I am a building inspector for Council. All I can figure is these project builders pay their contractors so little that they rush in and do such a crappy job and leave all the problem for the maintenance boys to fix up. From what I have seen every day Mac Jones, Dixson and a couple others would of been a much better deal. Rawso$ do include quality items no doubt, but if they are not installed by quality tradesman who care they should not bother. If I needed to build a home again and Rawso$ was the only builder available I would live in a tent until a quality builder could do the job. DONT DO IT. Re: Why did we ever build with #awso$ home 2Mar 30, 2014 7:33 pm I would dare say you were unlucky with subbies? All the builders would pay around the same rate and from subbies that we spoke to and that current do work with Rawson could only speak highly of Rawson compared to the other project home builders. I guess it also depends on the area and those same contractors look after the same areas. In saying that what is the resolution from Rawson themselves. I think at this point it would be how quickly and how well they get the contractors to fix the problem. 6 7972 That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 13734 Hi All, I just wanted to close this topic out with an update. So we ended up agreeing to a number with the insurance company, and after an extensive amount of hand… 8 15423 |
