Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Simonds Harcrest build in Brisbane 161Jun 14, 2015 7:17 am Hi brissyguy, I've only just visited the Simonds display yesterday. And I fall in love with what I saw, kinda of regret not seeing it earlier. We've actually has chosen Plantation and they've drawn a tender doc for us which we've signed. We haven't gone through the colour selection though and haven't signed the contract so I guess we can still change builders if we absolutely want to. My question to you is about the structural warranty. Simonds has only 7 years compare to Plantation of 50 years. Do you take that into the consideration when choosing Simonds. Thanks in advance, your house is beautiful. Re: Our Simonds Harcrest build in Brisbane 162Jun 14, 2015 7:16 pm TenaciousB Hi brissyguy, I've only just visited the Simonds display yesterday. Thanks in advance, your house is beautiful. To be honest we just loved the floor plan of the Harcrest (with a few mods) and went with it. Plantation had some amazing options too but this one just worked for us and our block of land (corner lot on slight slope). That 50yr warranty sure sounds good, but I do wonder what the conditions are. 7 yrs is the building requirement in QLD.. 50yrs seems almost too good to be true. Re: Our Simonds Harcrest build in Brisbane 164Jun 23, 2015 2:05 pm Hi brissyguy We are planning to build through Simonds and also like the harcrest. We have an appointment with them friday. I am however the most impatient person ever lol Could you give me an idea of what it costs before any changes were made? Hoping its within our price range lol Re: Our Simonds Harcrest build in Brisbane 165Jun 23, 2015 4:58 pm Kirra 1610 Hi brissyguy We are planning to build through Simonds and also like the harcrest. We have an appointment with them friday. I am however the most impatient person ever lol Could you give me an idea of what it costs before any changes were made? Hoping its within our price range lol We were quoted 272,900 base price, minus 10,000 for some sales promotion (so, 262,900). They provided "free" upgrades to the value of 30k. This does not go far if you get them to do the flooring, expect to lose 20k of it. Then another several thousand for a driveway. Btw these prices do not include turf or any landscaping. We did all this ourselves to save. Building, then post building, will teach you patience believe me. Re: Our Simonds Harcrest build in Brisbane 166Jun 23, 2015 5:02 pm I just wanted to also say if your builder tried to install "technika" branded canopy rangehood do anything you can to get something else. Absolute rubbish. So rubbish we are ripping it out to replace it. Also vibrates like crazy and feels unsafe on setting medium or high. Worst I've ever used. Their gas oven/electric cooktop however seems ok though. Simonds reused to allow an alternative rangehood during the build - I would press harder if I were to do it again. I wasn't sure about the brand, so I've tried to get a credit for the Technika appliances but they said they have an agreement with Technika, maybe I just try to sell it but get them to install a different brand of it's allowed. It must be a hassle to rip it out and replace it. Re: Our Simonds Harcrest build in Brisbane 168Nov 16, 2016 10:19 pm brissyguy Hi tomcat, ur and aussiepam! Thanks for the kind words. It must just be me who isn't loving the colour scheme Tomcat I will dig up the exterior colors for you tonight and post them. Here's some other pics that might help, they're from a bit earlier in the build thought.. What facade did you choose? Re: Our Simonds Harcrest build in Brisbane 169Nov 17, 2016 9:05 am It's been a couple of years but fairly sure we went with the Plymouth facade. We did alter master layout slightly leading to reduced balcony projection, unexpectedly also reducing the entrance patio. So normally there'd be a bit more of an overhang from the balcony.
