Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 28, 2014 9:39 pm Hi, for my new home I'm thinking of using Hog Bristle 1/2 strength, if we paint all the doors, frames and skirts with Hog Bristle 1/2 too would it look good? I'm afraid it would be too dark? Or we can paint skirts white (doors and frames still hog bristle) to have a contrasting look? As it's a very popular wall colour, I hope someone here has used the same paint at home and can give me some ideas! Re: Paint doors, frames and skirts the same colours as walls? 3Mar 28, 2014 11:19 pm Definitely maintain some contrast somewhere. it will depend on whether you get heaps of natural light - then it wouldn't look too dark. Or are you building a mansion and want to make the rooms look a little smalker? I'm not an expert though. I don't look very often in the interior lounge but there is a designer on there who could help. Also Dulux have their own colour consultants and a good facebook page where the designers reply with pictures etc. Try that as well. Re: Paint doors, frames and skirts the same colours as walls? 5Mar 29, 2014 8:58 am Hi EmyN, I think the quarter strength is a good suggestion, but it depends upon the look you want. 1/4 strength is a subtle look. If you have wide decorative cornices and skirtings though, you could think about crisp white. Why not do a search here for "hog bristle" paint pics? I am sure you will find many pics of H1-ers who have used it with a contrasting trim cos it's been a favorite Dululux colour for a long time. The effect of the contrast gives definition to the walls like a picture frame. The 1/4 strength blends and visually "widens" the appearance of doorways cos the edges sort of recede...
