Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 81Apr 10, 2014 10:41 am Ok, we have some new plans back. Had to change the ensuite around, my drawings wouldn't work because of sizing. There's not going to be an actual window there, just an opening. That vanity is also going to be a double. The only other thing we did was to remove the door from the laundry; we also couldn't put a door where the 'powder room' is as the walls don't line up, but I don't care too much since it's just an activity room, not a lounge room or anything. First plans! 82Apr 10, 2014 11:12 am Really like the updated plan, and like how you've dealt with the entry, I think that works nice. I don't see an issue with the vanity being visible, as you said, it is only in the activity room space, which is closed off from the main living anyway. My only question is, why only a single garage? Or do you later intend on attaching a carport, or garage/shed at rear of block? Just curious due to the lack of storage space for things like a lawnmower and other stuff you may not want inside the house area. Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 83Apr 10, 2014 11:28 am Hi TH, We will also be having a 6x6 double bay shed, built at the same time as the house the builder said most people in that situation don't have a garage at all, just the shed and/or a carport, but I absolutely need a garage - mainly because I can't be bothered unlocking a door every time I leave and come home 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 84Apr 10, 2014 11:42 am Yeah, I had a feeling it might have been because of an extra shed being built. And agreed, who wants to use keys to get in and out of their house! Which is kind of funny, a fellow work colleague yesterday was saying she shouldn't watch this serial killer show on Sunday nights because she then becomes paranoid about having to find her keys and open her front door (she only has a carport). Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 85Apr 10, 2014 1:20 pm Haha! I'm going to use that excuse if DH tries to fight me on the garage..."You're not home half the year, it's for my personal safety!" lol! I've told them to go ahead and start costing the plans now, anything we want to change is pretty minor...they know our rough budget so we'll see what happens. Don't know if I'll get the million extras I sent her in the end, and I don't know if a skillion roof is going to work with that plan. I already know a couple of things I can cut back on, but we'll just see what the price comes back like. I don't imagine we'll have them back until at least next week, I've told them not to rush it as even if the house sells, we aren't doing anything til next year! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Stellabella's second build! The entrance I'm still unsure of, it seems like a waste of space having a wall in that position but then i don't see how else it could work unless you move the entrance either up or down the wall Anyways I have no idea so don't listen to me!! First plans! 89Apr 13, 2014 6:51 pm I'm thinking of something like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our lounge and dining suite will fit on the other side of that wall, so the extra space will probably have shelving or something. 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 91Apr 13, 2014 7:58 pm Good idea , and even if you don't won't a nook you could just use the same look. My neighbour across the road has done the same thing without the nook . I had a peep as her front door was open the other day Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 92Apr 14, 2014 8:35 pm Well, I spent about an hour at the builder's tonight going over the plans and changed a heap of stuff. The builder's wife had a look at the plans and we figured out a way to make it work (hopefully) better, I'll post it tomorrow! Needed something to make me feel better, DH's camp got shut down today and he won't be back out at work for about a month which is a bit of a bummer. Luckily we have a contingency plan for this but it's going to be annoying having to use it for a month haha! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 93Apr 14, 2014 11:57 pm Oh haha just saw this and thought wow that's just like ours. Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 94Apr 15, 2014 12:37 pm Haha SB! You were my inspiration! Ok, here's the new set of plans. I love the layout of the ensuite and kitchen much more. Only things to change to this were: - Ensuite window to be 2118 - Bi-fold in kitchen to be smaller - probably like 1218 - Ensuite vanity to be double bowl - The wall between ensuite freestanding bath and main bedroom to be half wall. That funny wall behind it is for a recess - Bath in main bathroom is going to be 1650 in a hob that goes the whole width of the bathroom - The little rectangle next to the toilet is a vanity haha - Will make one wall of the kids activity storage/linen. Not sure which wall yet - would've used the wall where the window is but then there'll be no natural light. Need to have a think on that. Think that's all for now haha Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 95Apr 15, 2014 1:26 pm Looking good! Only time for a few quick random thoughts sorry but I think the bed in the master would look much better against the right wall, that way you don't have to be walking around the base of the bed all the time to get places. Will a dining table fit at the space below the kitchen (next to the entrance that is)? Because otherwise it might be a bit of an awkward space to use in other ways. Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 96Apr 15, 2014 2:14 pm Thanks Emy! We have the bed where it is, as through the window we'll be able to see straight out to the lake from the bed, so that's why we've positioned it like that We'll be putting a 3 seater and 2 seater lounge in that spot with a coffee table, they measured it out and it should fit. We don't use our living room at the moment anyway, as we're in the media room most of the time, so we aren't even going to have a tv there. The dining table will go in the larger space, so we can have a big one there to fit all our friends when they come around, and have it open up to outside too. I might even have a feature chair and table there (below the kitchen) if I use that lounge set in the kids activity room. Hope that all makes sense haha. We'll be having a tv in the main bedroom, one in the media, one outside and one in the kids activity room (not straight away though). 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 97Apr 15, 2014 2:19 pm Like the newer plan and the organisation of the bedrooms around activity room, works nicely. Totally understand with not using the lounge. When our house is built we'll be using the dining/family room space for our table tennis table. This is because we'll basically use the theatre room, and have TV's in the main bedroom and probably one in the partner's study. Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 98Apr 15, 2014 10:41 pm Looking good!! Such a stunning plan. My one comment would be the entrance to the pantry. Did you consider the door where, I think the fridge recess is? Seems strange to walk around the corner to go in the pantry... The door could be out the the bench so look similar to a normal pantry door... I have seen a few plans here in WA that do it... Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 99Apr 15, 2014 11:12 pm That's look really good . Can I say I thing and I know you have had enough of changing things . Even though I wish I had thought about a powder room since our toliets are massive . Do you need to have a sink there near the toliet since the bath is right there I know it's a good thing to have so visiters don't need to go in the bathroom maybe put another cupboard there . Just a thought you can tell me to shut up if you won't lol .i love the entrance now.My friend has no tv in her family room which is so good no kids watching TV their . Thinking of that myself . Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 100Apr 15, 2014 11:25 pm I was worried about you not having enough room for dining and living but it makes sense if you're using the media room as a living. It's a great plan. The outlook to the lake will be so relaxing and probably excellent fengshui too. (I'm no expert but water is good right?)
