Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Stellabella's second build! Land offer accepted! 61Apr 06, 2014 12:29 am Enjoy your life now, I had my first kid when I was 20 and then kept having them for a decade and plus . Hence I have 6 kids . Never travelled . Now I have too many kinds .wouldn't change it for the world but must say it's not easy. Enjoy being together as husband and wife and not mum and dads. You guys are still young . Travel and enjoy yourself . Do naughty things lol .you have plenty of time . But remember there is never a right time to have kids . Re: Stellabella's second build! Land offer accepted! 62Apr 06, 2014 1:34 am Haha thanks guys. We go overseas at least once a year (used to be at least twice with my old job, but I can't take as much time off now ); so I have no probs with visiting NYC again (and again...and again!) but don't think I could make the commitment to move there! I'm too much of a homebody We don't plan on having kids before we're thirty so we've still got a few good trips left in us yet! My mum always told me not to have kids young, and to get out there and see the world...now that I've seen a fair chunk of it (I intend to have all my travel-related 'bucket list' items ticked off by the time I'm 30, I've done over half so far and will have done 75% after next year), I must thank her... 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Stellabella's second build! Land offer accepted! 63Apr 06, 2014 8:31 pm Hi Stellabella. I have spent all weekend trying to buy a good set of cutting knifes . And thought that because your hubby is a chef he might be able to recommend a good brand . We have looked at global and wusthof . Re: Stellabella's second build! Land offer accepted! 64Apr 06, 2014 9:09 pm I'll message him now and ask him Melsie, he's at work atm. His favourite (I think?! They were when he bought them haha) that we have here are Shun knives. From memory, he bought a set of three and then two larger/different ones. They are the ones he keeps in our 'special knife drawer', he has a whole specialised briefcase full of others though, so if he doesn't get back to me soon I'll have a look of what brands are in there 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Stellabella's second build! Land offer accepted! 66Apr 06, 2014 9:52 pm Ok he said definitely not Global, but Wusthof are good apart from they can be heavy 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Stellabella's second build! Land offer accepted! 67Apr 06, 2014 10:48 pm Yeh I liked the feel of the global and I did think the wusthof was heavy. I acually laybyed the wusthof they are having a sale at David jones and I got a 8 piece which included 5 knifes in them for $650 down from $1000 or something . But partner wonted a bigger knife . We then were going to buy them individually . They had 30 % off . If only the wusthof looked like the global. We have left them on layby and we will probley keep looking .its so hard but sometimes you need to pay that extra money . Thanks Stellabella Re: Stellabella's second build! Land offer accepted! 69Apr 07, 2014 7:26 pm Sounds good Belzey! Can't wait to take our future kids back to some of the amazing places we've been. So my first bday present from DH has arrived, the frame he had made for my print. I'm in LOVE! Land offer accepted! 70Apr 07, 2014 10:38 pm Hi stellabella. Wow again?? And so soon? I guess you're young, the pain doesn't remain with you so long haha Great block and what an amazing floor plan. This one will be very interesting. Will follow for sure Re: Stellabella's second build! Land offer accepted! 71Apr 08, 2014 7:09 pm Haha I know SB! Maybe we are crazy. We'll see lol. Ok, we have the first prelim plan back! Obviously we are very early on. I told you all it would be very different from the original, so here goes. This is what we were sent: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And here's one I changed: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I'm not too neat, so the major things I changed: - Brought ensuite out under the eaves and swapped the shower in to there. The shower is to be 2.5m long. Put the 1800 vanity in front of it. The bath will probably move left a bit (depending on actual space, my drawings aren't to scale haha) and will be centred to a window. - Opened up ensuite to bedroom, no door. - Moved the door to the WIR to the entry of the bedroom - this will just be a gap, no door. This gives us enough space for bed and bedside tables on this wall. Also changed the door from ensuite to WIR to swinging as I prefer this over cav slider. - Changed door from garage to go into laundry instead of the other space to try and make better use of that area. Going to make it a 'utility' area - put the desk in there too. Remove the door from the laundry. Put in a cav sliderto get to that area as there's nowhere for a swinging door to latch onto. Will probably put some floating shelves on that other small area. - Brought in the living area by abut 2.5/3m. There was no need for all that space. Also centred the front door and made it more of an entry. - Changed layout of bathroom so it is smaller, so we can move pantry into kids activity area. Did this so the kitchen can be longer. Also changed the fridge location to other end of kitchen in case we decide on having the bench go that whole way across, or leave it as galley? Was thinking of bench there because of wanting bi-fold there out to outdoor kitchen? Opinions? Put the niche there as I love ours and couldn't think of anywhere better. - Bring bedrooms out to line up with media/garage as they were only 3x3 and want them bigger. Current size is 299.4 sqm or 32ish squares. Will change a bit since bringing in living/dining but also extending ensuite and bedrooms. Would love opinions! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 72Apr 08, 2014 7:55 pm I like the changes you've made. The only one I'm not sure about is having your main entrance into the middle of your living area. That seems a little odd to me and I think houses feel much "grander" with some kind of proper entrance area. Oh I'm also not sure about the separate basin being pretty much in the kids activity area. Why not just a wallhung vanity or something in the loo-room to make it a powder room? That way messy basin is out of sight of a living area. Just some thoughts anyhoo, overall I think it's looking good. Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 73Apr 08, 2014 8:06 pm I wanted the door centred because it bothered me a bit it wouldn't be in the middle of the façade, I felt like that would look a little odd. Perhaps if I made that entrance area a little longer? I had thought that with the basin, but one of the reasons I wanted the extra basins was so if we have two future kids, the would have a basin each to brush teeth/have their own vanity etc. Don't really think I would enjoy brushing my teeth in a toilet? Haha! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 74Apr 08, 2014 8:18 pm You did a great job . Is there a slider on that wall where that basin is next to the toliet . I would probley make it one powder room too . Could you close off the activity room or will it feel smaller.i think walking into a living area will be ok . My sisters house does older house though . Hers you walk into a portico then into the living / kithen. Half the size of yours though.i like how the kids will eventually be down the other side of the house. Like how you changed the kitchen .is the shower behind the vanity. A lot of people on here who don't have doors in ensuite which they did because of light coming through maybe something to look at . I hope that all makes sence . Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 76Apr 08, 2014 8:32 pm Thanks Melsie. I'd be having a decent sizes portico too, haven't drawn that on yet. So that will go out further than that entry. Hopefully will be ok? Slider in that bathroom/powder area is probably a good idea, hopefully it won't make it too small. Hopefully it will fit with the vanity there, as we are having wall hung vanities it won't be able to go behind it if you know what I mean. Should be room though, I'll add that in. What do you all think of adding a door near the niche, for that hallway to the kids activity/bedrooms? Not too worried if the activity room looks small, considering we've already got the living and media. 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 77Apr 08, 2014 8:35 pm With regards to the front door - why not leave it where it was originally, but bring that little section out in line with the... is it a theatre or study on the left? Then it could stay out in front with a little entrance and the wall for the rest of the living back where you've adjusted it too..... Does that make sense? Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 78Apr 08, 2014 9:16 pm I recon a door to separate the bedrooms is a good idea. Maybe a single french door. I wonted to have a door to separate rooms from living rooms but I got a no. He will see what I was talking about once we move in . I'm always right lol Re: Stellabella's second build! First plans! 79Apr 08, 2014 9:32 pm Oh my sister has a courtyard should of said that instead of a portico. So you walk through there and she has a sitting area and then too french doors straight ahead is the kitchen and then to the left the dinning area Hi team, Im looking for a second hand sd4b monitor preferably white. 0 8923 We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37139 Hi, We have a single story MacDonald Jones house, on a waffle pod slab with steel frame.
