So we had prestart last week on Tuesday and we are yet to get our costings back from the estimator. We were told that an estimator was working with us not he day to cost our upgrades, but we have none and it's been almost a week.
Anyway, our journey started off with a five-week-in-advance booking which we weren't too happy about, but at least we were booked. We got there on the day a little late, since of course traffic was awful and the trains had issues the day we had to get to the city. But that's okay, we got there.
Next, the prestart consultant didn't have all our information ready to go - we had to do a check list so that we were ready to go and return it before they would book us in, but the consultant wasn't ready. We were glad we had all our stuff with us! At least we were organised...
When we signed our contracts, we were told by our salesman that we could add render to our frontage at prestart - hmmm no that's a structural change. Oh great, our estate covenant states that we have to have two colours/features to our frontage, so you try getting that through :/
We also wanted to change our front door, but since we wanted a 1200mm door, that's also structural. It would be nice if someone had read our prestart wish list and told us this before we got there! Another thing we had on our wish list was to add the display home tv recess back in (we lost this when we switched to the lower spec home). Luckily we have an email that says we can do this at prestart.
We also signed a copy of our promotions from the month we signed up in January, which says we get glass splashback, Essastone, double ensuite vanity, 31c ceilings to living, and a $3500 upgrade to the frontage, which was awesome, it gave us what we wanted from the display. But apparently we don't get this, even though we have a signed copy from the salesman.
Lastly, every thing we wanted to price, the prestart consultant would ask, "oh can you afford that?".
Needless to say, my partner and I were fuming. I am planning to respond to the costings with a very thorough email stating exactly what I think needs to be done.
Not a great start to the build process, methinks.
