Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 04, 2014 8:53 pm Hi, We have taken the plunge and decided to build our first home on the central coast, on a sloping site... We are in the process of selecting colours and any advice would be great - really like monument and black and tan but worried it looks a bot cookie cuuterish! Thanks Re: Building a home on the central coast 2Jun 05, 2014 2:54 pm Hi leezo102, Exciting times! Congrats on taking the plunge. With colours there are so many options. I assume that you have gone to a few display villages to have a look at what's around. If you haven't yet then that is a good place to start. Also your builder may have a colour selection consultant who will help you choose. You can also go to the brick manufacturers to have a look at their displays (assuming that you are going to have a face brick house. Depending on who your builder is they may have a limited range of materials and colours that you can select from. Sometimes having a limited range can be good as it makes the choices easier. If there is too much on offer then sometimes you just get overloaded and confused. Monument is a nice Colorbond colour. Is the black and tan you are referring to a particular brick? I think it is PGH that has a brick called black and tan. It's nice too. Give yourself a little time to get comfortable with your ideas for colours and you will more likely to be a bit more comfortable with your decisions. I wish you the best of luck with it all. (The selection the builder has allowed is very basic!) Yes Black and Tan is PGH which is the only included one we liked, only problem for me is that as we are on a slope we have (what is as I would call a basement/level) which is 2.4 meters of brick, then the actual walls of the house on top... It's 19 meters long which is one hell of an expanse of brick! Fairly confident with our interior choices, just have to get the outside right!
