Browse Forums Building A New House Re: SO Angry- Advice please. 21Mar 21, 2014 6:30 pm Sorry, but from my perspective being nice with builders never achieved anything. I tried to be calm and respectful but when you fight for something for more than a year at some point you work out that you've gotta be mean. I took my issue to a state manager and I only won because I had email documentation from him to back me up....meanwhile theyre still offering the same impossible deal on TV, hoping no one will fight for it. Yours is a tough one, its not like theyve put the wrong bricks on and then just said 'deal with it'. I honestly think this isnt worth fighting, sorry. Better to just accept that the builder made a mistake. Honestly, building tests your strength and patience, I recommend you pick your battles. Re: SO Angry- Advice please. 22Mar 24, 2014 10:02 am Hello all Quick update re: crossover. I recieved the below email on Friday; "Please be advised that we have raised a variation at NIL cost to you for the inclusion of limestone roadbase to your crossover as per Gosnell Shire’s requirements. Plans are currently being amended and will be sent to you for your signature along with the relevant amended Addenda page. This has now been actioned and once the plan has been amended our scheduling department will be notified of the change. My apologies for the mix up at prestart stage where I included a crossover where we usually don’t do this in the Shire of Gosnells thus creating somewhat of a problem whilst I was away" Needless to say im happy with the outcome. I emailed her back politley just thanking her for the resolution. Im not a nightmare customer, I just dont like when things are promised and then they dont deliver. I dont want a huge debate on this, but I just hope those of you who would have just accepted this, might take away something from the result I got. No, dont pick your battles. If you were promised something, GET IT. No, you shouldnt HAVE to know all regulations. If you WANT to, then fine , but its not mandatory as a customer. Your paying ythousands of dollars to your builder to not just slap together your home, but to comply with all australian standards, and that includes knowing basic shire requirements. Anyway, good result, thanks for all comments and advice. Re: SO Angry- Advice please.- a result we are happy with. 24Mar 24, 2014 11:26 am Im a firm believer of "if you dont ask you will never know". The same applies to disputes about stuf flike the roadbase. I agree its not the busilders fault, I also believe they should have had some idea, and that its not your personal responsibility to know. That said, being somone who is currently buidling too, I have done lots of research and am still learning about things despite my build alreday having started. There is no resonable posibility for a first timer to know to check all that stuff, and it is entirely reasonable to expect the builders to walk you through the process. Again, you dont know unless you ask/complain/tell etc. Good job on getting an outcome youre happy with. Re: SO Angry- Advice please.- a result we are happy with. 25Mar 24, 2014 11:37 am I am happy that you are happy first and foremost. So the builder is footing the additional cost moving to limestone? Or waiving the variation cost? If it's the upgrade cost that is awesome and plus one for the builder taking it in..... Happy days. Re: SO Angry- Advice please.- a result we are happy with. 27Mar 24, 2014 6:28 pm Well done!! Glad you managed to get it sorted rather than just accepting it. I am very happy! Yes, mistakes happen, but im glad they have rectified it to an outcome we are happy with.
