How exciting Re: Kelsey78’s Home in Honeywood DAH Build-KEYS!!! 685Mar 31, 2015 11:56 am Yay for keys Kelsey!!! Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66620 Re: Kelsey78’s Home in Honeywood DAH Build-KEYS!!! 686Apr 07, 2015 12:59 pm Thanks so much everyone for the lovely comments, it is beyond a relief to be in our first home... finally!!!! I have had a lot of mixed emotions I didn’t expect since moving in. probably the biggest one being resentment for the new house. Every time I look at the finishes of the house I feel physically sick in my stomach. I don’t know if I’m over reacting or just expected too much but this house doesn’t feel new it feels more like a fix-a-upper too me! There are so many issues with the paint finishes everywhere!!! The ceilings, the frames, the walls, don’t even get me started on the skirting. That skirting is actually so disgusting that we are planning on taking it all up and being replaced (something that DAH should have done!). The issue with it was it was installed and painted prior to the floor issue. So they had to pull it up, wall paint attached and all and tried to reuse it. if it was sanded back it may have not been as noticeable but it wasn’t, it was just painted over. Part of the skirting where it should have butted up is bowed. There are literally broken pieces reattached to the wall. We told our SS at PCI the skirting was unacceptable. It was never written on the list just red fix-it dots placed all over it. small areas where rectified, most where not!! I really hate to whinge, throughout this whole experience I have given Dale Alcock the benefit of the doubt but they have had their chance to rectify the situation and they have not. Their finishes are not quality as they promote, their workmanship is poor and I am just fed up with all their empty promises. Would I build with Dale Alcock again? Not in a heartbeat!! We spent over $300k for a ‘quality’ home and I’m embarrassed to have people around to see a home that I am not proud to call my own! Things that’s were missed off the PCI checklist, we were told they would all be all completed before the Easter break however not one trade has come since handover…. Like I said empty promises! Onto better news! We had the BIG move on Saturday 28th of March. I am so lucky to have such an amazing family to help! it took 2 hours to get all unpack the truck however we are still slowly unpacking boxes finding homes for all our stuff. Also on Tuesday we had the window treatments for most of the house installed!! We are now just waiting for our shutters to be installed hopefully only a week or two away! I will post some pictures shortly once they spaces look more finished. I have a friend building in Honeywood, she's so excited! (her titles come out in a couple of months though) I couldnt afford Honeywood so im building in Baldivis, but it is such an awesome (and growing!) little area! So exciting for you guys! Hope the move has gone smoothly and everything looks awesome! Re: Kelsey78’s Home in Honeywood DAH Build-KEYS!!! 688Apr 07, 2015 2:23 pm I am so sorry you feel that way about your home Kelsey. It makes me feel really sad for you both because after all the build up you should be feeling excited and proud to call it your home. Have you considered sending an email similar to your post to the team or someone higher up to get these issues rectified? I wouldn't settle for it. It has been so much money, so much time, and so many mixed emotions over the past year and I would be making sure it is at a level where you are feeling proud of you new home. Have missed your updates (I am sure everyone else has too!) and I am looking forward to seeing some pics. Hope you can get everything sorted Re: Kelsey78’s Home in Honeywood DAH Build-KEYS!!! 689Apr 07, 2015 2:29 pm Kelsey that is really sad to read so sorry that you feel that way...moving into a new home is stressful enough without adding your feelings towards the finishes on the house into the mix. Sometimes it is just easier to cut the losses and fix things yourself although I think you should send them an email and see if they do the right thing and fix your issues. Re: Kelsey78’s Home in Honeywood DAH Build-KEYS!!! 690Apr 07, 2015 3:00 pm When we first moved we noticed everything which looked crap . It went on for months I keept thinking I spent over$400,000 for this house .only o could see it as visitors just saw a lovely home . But as time passed at become a home .walls got dirty ,grout got dirty things got broken and realized that its not going to look new for long lol .dont get me wrong I still get annoyed and I guess its normal when you pay so much money .im in my 10mon and still waiting for things to get fixed but trust me you end up thinking they will come eventually .and ill be waiting . We shouldnt have to fix things ourselves but sometimes its better because you know you have done a good job . Xxx Re: Kelsey78’s Home in Honeywood DAH Build-KEYS!!! 691Apr 07, 2015 3:28 pm Finish is the one of the major areas where DAH let themselves down. Our white set looks like it was done by a 2 year old. Trowel marks, holes and in one room hand prints. Basically they just don't care. Re: Kelsey78’s Home in Honeywood DAH Build-KEYS!!! 692Apr 07, 2015 10:38 pm Sorry to hear about your issues Kelsey. I've heard of similar issues with my relatives recent build with the company. Some of the photos I've seen are shocking and are of unbelievably poor quality. Thankfully, they've all been dealt with and rectified to the standard they should have been finished in the first place. There are people in the company that care about sub standard finishes and if you're not happy with the way things are finished then you should pursue it with someone higher up the chain. Unfortunately like most builders, once you have the keys they don't want to know about it. Issues aside, it's great to see that you're in your new home! Re: Kelsey78’s Home in Honeywood DAH Build-KEYS!!! 693Apr 09, 2015 3:17 pm Ugh.. those problems left by DAH sounds sickening indeed. I'm a bit worried myself now.... Although from what I've seen DAH has a history of trying to rectify every problem but its just a matter of sticking up with them persistently to make sure we don't let them compromise. But I hope overtime you get to enjoy the home that you are in more than the physical house itself. Don't let the problem over stress you too much. Allow yourself to still enjoy what your new home has to offer. I'm sure you will settle in eventually. Fingers crossed you will have lovely neighbors too! My first build journey here https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71028 Re: Kelsey78’s Home in Honeywood DAH Build-KEYS!!! 694Apr 09, 2015 7:08 pm Aw so sorry to hear Kelsey! That sounds awful maybe all the excitement is wearing off and you just need time to furnish and then you might start to love it once it feels finished and homely. I could imagine moving into a new house which doesn't have that "lived in" feel would make me feel the same about it. I hope DA come and fix all the issues for you. It's awful how they are making you wait so long. At least when you build your next house you will know exactly what you want and how to ask for it and make it happen. Re: Kelsey78’s Home in Honeywood DAH Build-KEYS!!! 696Apr 09, 2015 8:21 pm Oh Kelsey!! I just caught up and I feel awful for you! It should be such an exciting time. That's so disappointing about the skirtings, definitely keep persisting with that one!! That's not acceptable. We realized a couple of painting jobs weren't finished so we told our builder and the SS came out and fixed them himself lol we're still finding little imperfections every now and then but we figure that we will re-paint in a few years anyway. Good luck with DA and I hope you get some relief! I want to see a happy post with some pictures of your beautiful home!! Send emails for everything. There's nothing worse than that sick in the stomach feeling when something is wrong. I think the worst part is the fact our SS doesn’t let us know PCI is cancelled until we get to site. I don’t know about you guys but I was getting so excited/couldn’t sleep the night before in anticipation for PCI. It was such a letdown to find out PRC was cancelled again. Here are some updates for the house Driveway and Alfresco have now been poured http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s93/kelsey_jane78/74044B44-4412-4039-A989-EC64C6B9DE5B.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s93/kelsey_jane78/4E0FBD24-D02D-4507-9CFE-51F7D359CAA3.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s93/kelsey_jane78/84037FD2-7B67-418E-9674-E0F39287B2D6.jpg Flooring has been completed!! http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s93/kelsey_jane78/819E156F-797D-4937-B7DD-6D4294A43831.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s93/kelsey_jane78/349D1F7C-CEFA-4F01-A172-10D3A6AA2E37.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s93/kelsey_jane78/B0FB3138-7EEC-431A-92F1-29D97151230A.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s93/kelsey_jane78/9CDDF770-7C16-4126-BE51-FD7ADF31FEC8.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s93/kelsey_jane78/15BDE25F-786A-4B96-840A-A1BF5B37343A.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s93/kelsey_jane78/0CF33144-4742-4F1F-A584-38F13A938804.jpg Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Also, here’s a picture of the silicone around the bath. Hope the move has gone smoothly and everything looks awesome! Honeywood is great but expensive, we bought a smaller block because we had our heart set on the estate. Baldivis is such a lovely community and the houses are a lot bigger which is a bonus!! jelbell55 u feel that way about your home Kelsey. Thanks Jellbell!! you're so sweet! the OH did speak to our CLO and she said as we had a win with the hotplate (wasnt our fault it had to be changed in the first place) that we shouldn't expect another win! I was shocked when the OH told me she said that. Trowel marks, holes and in one room hand prints. Basically they just don't care. So does ours!!! we have wavy walls everywhere!! some were fixed after PCI a lot were not!! Ours ultimately didn't care about the finishes as it clearly shows when we walk through the house. I sincerely hope you are happy with your new home and DAH do the right thing by you! hailtheshrine Aw so sorry to hear Kelsey! While i'm sitting at our beautiful new table having dinner all I can do it notice all this issues with the walls and skirting. Anywhere there's skirting is my least favorite place to be in the whole house! Meelz Oh Kelsey!! I just caught up and I feel awful for you! It should be such an exciting time.
