Does the sliding door open in the middle? A couple of friends have those and they both said 'never again!'. Mainly because a centralised door inevitably direct you right in to furniture whether it be a couch, a table, a chair etc. Having the door open to one side means that 9 times out of 10 you're walking with the flow of the furniture, not constantly running in to it so have a think about where you're furniture will be. Same with the position of the theatre door.
We have our AC unit sitting just below our ensuite window (which is a highlight window) and we can hear it in our bedroom. Luckily it's not too noisy and we've turned it off when going to bed so it hasn't disturbed our sleep, but I can see that it could be an issue for a light sleeper especially on those ridiculously hot summer nights. That said, I'd probably move it there too so that I could use the wall of Bed 3 to mount a clothesline.
The sliding door does open in the middle. It’s disappointing to hear that that your friends didn’t like it because we are in love with the idea of it. I think it’s going to be one of those decisions that we may live to regret. On the plus side I think it will really open the space onto the alfresco and will be great for parties!! We do plan to have a walk through behind our sofas to get to the door. Let’s hope it won’t be a decision we regret.
I am a light sleeper so maybe it’s not such a good idea to move it closer to our room. We have paid over $6,000.00 for noise continuation which includes a lot of thickened glass to block out the sounds of the freeway. Fingers crossed it also assists with the AC unit
I'm guessing when we both said EAST side we really meant WEST side? I got mixed up between left and right of east and west!
Anyway, if you are putting it there, I saw on one the display where they don't use door to shower ie just a glass extending over the nib wall (I think it was the Alpine Villa display). Then they put the towel rail and shower tap on that side of the wall. Just thought I mention this since your towel rail is not directly within reach from the shower. Could be handy!
I'm sure you got a bit of credit for reducing one of the room. I'll try asking at prestart to see how much to have that massive slider. I envy your window configuration in your living, it will be nice and bright during the day. We dont have any window in our kitchen as its sitting too close to the boundary.
Hmmm thanks for the tips, I'll have to consider our plan putting the door in the middle then..
Haha... you are right it is WEST!!!
hmmmm, I will have to see how the OH feels about putting the rail in the shower. I kind of think its a cool idea as long as the towels wont get wet!
I LOVE our windows.
I'm hoping the space wont get too hot though but I love all natural light they will bring!
