I think hiccup is an understatement actually! I received an email from our CLO yesterday informing us that the location of the hotplate is again safety regulations. Apparently there should be at least a gap of 111mm between the wall and the end of the hotplate. As a resolution she offered me a 750mm hotplate instead of the 900mm. I actually can’t believe we have got to this stage of the build for this to be bought to our attention. Had we been told about this in planning we would have just relocated it and I wouldn’t have been an issue! We are not experienced builders how the hell would we know looking at a plan that there should be a 111mm gap between the wall and hotplate!! What a joke! I checked my mums and hers is only 60mm (mind you she built 17 years ago, maybe things have changed). But regardless Dale Alcock are experience quality builders who we gave a lot of money to build our home and the fact this wasn’t bought us before now just blows my mind!! So I have told our CLO a flat out no we are not going to reduce to the smaller hotplate. This is their stuff up they need to correct it! We are thinking the quickest most painless option will be to encroach onto our larder (I attempted to move the wall in paint) EDITED VS ORIGINAL Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I’m now really concerned that the space might now feel tight to walk down! What do you guys think? I think we are way too far gone to change the windows and move it onto the side wall. Which was something we were considering at planning anyway! Had this come up then we would have been happy to go with that! So if they agree to moving that wall the will have to arrange the following trades -do we need to get re approval? -brickie -sparky -carpenter for the roof (there is a support on this wall, I hope it’s not an issue) -Plaster for grey float and white set - trade to fix the ceilings and cornices ARRRRRHHHHHHHH even if they picked it up a month ago it wouldn't be as bad!! Sorry for my rant guys!! I just needed to get it all out… if anyone has any suggestions on how to rectify this please let me know My heart was set on the big appliances and now I don’t know what’s going happen! They should know this stuff and I would have thought council would have knocked it back? Could you move it onto your other benchtop? Otherwise I think your option looks ok. As long as there's a door width (720?) the space to walk through should be ok, and you'd need to make sure your fridge doors can still open. What a balls up. If we move it from that location they need to add another gas point and there also has to be a wall to mount the rangehood There will still be a 960mm opening if they agree to move the wall, but what a huge effort over something that should never have happened!! I can't believe it got through council approval and everything else to this stage and only now it's being picked up??!!?? How about swopping your fridge and your oven/cooktop around? So your oven is next to your microwave? Would that work? I really think it is up to DAH to come up with a suitable solution rather than suggesting a smaller cooktop My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Thank you so much everyone.
