Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 16, 2014 4:26 pm Hello everyone, Im Issy, Im a newbie, and Ive been reading home one for about a couple of weeks now. This is my very first posts and I will be posting my updates and questions through here. First of all thank you for taking your time to read my post. Hope I get replies LOL. Anyways my hubby and I have signed our PPA (late February) and we have "ages" til PreStart (which hopefully is in May) We're doing our PreStart before the Titles get issued (apparently thats weird) which is an estimated to be in August! we're eligible for the 22 weeks fast track that New Generation offers, so hopefully we'll be in our lovely home by Jan or Feb 2015! Even though PreStart hasnt started, Some stuff have been easy to pick and some hasnt. For now, I am freaking out about the exterior colour schemes. Please HELP! LOL! I want a light coloured roof (preferably Surfmist, Windspray or Shale grey), thats a must (as we wont have aircon for a while), but for the renders Im thinking of Dark "appropriate" blue for feature and light blue for the rest of the walls, or dark grey (feature) and light grey (rest).. 1. Am I crazy to think of Blue and grey colour schemes for the house? 2. I think the garage door should somewhat match the front door colour yes? (btw Im thinking of Deep Ocean ) Please help me decide colours, I want it to look different (which is why I chose blue and light blue for renders but has anybody seen a gorgeous blue house? with bits of grey? I mean come on, im crazy right? Ive also been researching and I found the colourbond online visualiser to help. but its not true to real life (if that makes sense ). It has somewhat helped (which is why i think blue and grey is not bad) but I need some other human (besides me and hubster) advice on colours! LOL! Anyways to help with your replies:- This is The Maxum from the outside: http://www.newgenerationhomes.com.au/ou ... /the-maxum The only difference with our Maxum is that it will be from left to right, house then garage.. and also double doors. Now colour bond online visualisers. This is the closest design I think thats close to our house: Design 1, Blue Walls and Grey Garage: http://colorbond.autech.com.au/onlinevi ... 8022c5375e Design 2, Green Grey Walls and Deep Ocean Garage: http://colorbond.autech.com.au/onlinevi ... b2528fgb5d Btw paving will have to be Vista Pave in the colours Storm cloud with Tundra or SeaMist as trimmings. http://brikmakers.com/product.php?type=vs60gc Hope this post is organised enough so that you can help reply Also if you dont like the colour schemes, make one and post it on this post so that me and others can see The colourbond colour online visualiser website is: colorbond.autech.com.au/ Eeek, I'm so excited about this post, please reply (sounding so desperate here, its cos I am), thanks Building: The Maxum Builder: New Generation Homes Estate: Springtime Estate, Xavier ____________________________ Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=73924 Re: Haynes, New Generation Homes - HELP on exterior colours 2Mar 16, 2014 9:52 pm Hey Issy! We are just over the road from you guys, and we are heading to prestart on Tuesday eek! We found that colours externally are deceiving we originally wanted real greys with no other under-colours in them, but when I painted some sample boards, they "threw" blues. We have since changed to two new colours which look brownish but when painted up in 150% tint as per a display home we liked! they are definitely greys. Do you need to stick to a particular paint range, eg solver or dulux? We were looking at solver and we came up with Hamersley as the dark feature, with Soft Apparition for the main colour plus colourbond Basalt for the roof. You should check out the Castellet display in sienna! they have the light roof with grey and it's really nice (we just didn't want to go with the light roof). If it's solver, there is a site called Colour Designer that has all their colours and you can order A5 sized sample cards to help out a bit more, you just have to sign up for free. It will be nice to see someone else's build so close to us, especially in such a new area, it doesn't look like there are many of us on this site yet! Re: Haynes, New Generation Homes - HELP on exterior colours 3Mar 16, 2014 10:38 pm Hi nephthysa! Thank you so much for replying.. Yes we have to stick with solver paints! Where did you go to get your sample pots? Cool I'll try the website.. I've learnt a lot I think in the past few weeks lols.. I just saw the castellet display on youtube, damn I love the internet! I'm going to research them colours of yours but what do you think about the blue exteriors? Have you seen any blue house lately? Haha Yerh I know, but there'll be more soon, we gots to stick together (Y) Building: The Maxum Builder: New Generation Homes Estate: Springtime Estate, Xavier ____________________________ Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=73924 Re: Haynes, New Generation Homes - HELP on exterior colours 4Mar 17, 2014 7:28 pm I'm not a fan of blue but that's just personal preference. There was a blue house when we went researching roller doors, it wasn't bad, just not me We are supposed to use Solver too but I want them to tint dulux colours into solver paints we'll see tomorrow I guess! Re: Haynes, New Generation Homes - HELP on exterior colours 5Mar 18, 2014 12:07 am Cool.. And by chance they were building with the same builder. Now I have to wait and see if they look good on mine . Re: Haynes, New Generation Homes - HELP on exterior colours 8Apr 13, 2014 7:23 pm Hey avenger, What colours did you end up going with? I've decided on greyfriars as my main render, and I haven't decided whether charcoal or mintaro slate for contrast render, soft apparation for door, roof windspray and gutters and fascia surf mist and deep ocean colorbond for garage Melsie 68, thank you for the advice.. It helped so much! I am definitely going with the bluey grey scheme because I know I won't forgive myself if I don't hehe..
