Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 15, 2014 4:26 pm Hi all This is our build thread for the Riva 29 from Carlisle Homes. We started on this journey late 2013 and put a deposit on a 14 x 32 land in Selandra Rise, Clyde North. We were tossing between Porter Davis and Henley as our builder but then Carlisle opened up their new display homes in Berwick Waters and we fell in love with the Riva 29. I think this is one of their newly released designs? So now we are just waiting on our land to title - expected in June eeeekkkk!!!! Here's the floorplan: And this is the Lismore facade: More pics of the display home on their website: http://www.carlislehomes.com.au/home-de ... a/gallery/ Re: Building Riva 29 With Carlisle Homes 2Mar 15, 2014 5:38 pm Internal color selection was pretty straight forward. We wanted our home to look exactly as per the display so went with the same color scheme. Laminex Silk Polar White - Kitchen Base Cabinets Laminex Bleach Wenge - Overhead Kitchen Cabinets (second color) + Ensuite/Bathroom Cabinets Osprey Caesarstone - Kitchen, Ensuite/Bathroom Benchtop Opal - Perspex Overhead Cabinet Doors Beige Royal Quarter - Starfire Splashback Dulux Whisper White - Internal Walls Colorbond Dune - Feature Walls Lifestyle Almond - Floor and Wall Tile Soft Greige Oak - Laminate Floorboards Ballad 575 - Carpet Undermount Kitchen Sink Upright Cooktop External color selection was a different story... Who knew there were so many different combinations?? We went back to SPECTRA several Saturdays as we kept changing our mind on our external colors I wanted a darker facade whereas the hubby wanted lighter. We spent so many weekends driving around new estates, trying to find the right scheme for us. You know you're building a house when you can point to a color and say this is Evening Haze or Woodland Grey or Jasper or Monument... We went back to SPECTRA one last time today before our Tender Appointment on Monday to finalize the external colors. Here goes. Roof - Barramundi Gutter/Fascia/Downpipes - Monument Timber Cladding - Rich Walnut Bricks - Chestnut Render - Raw Cashewnut Window/Sliding Door Frames - Black Garage Doors - Monument I'm still unsure about the Monument garage doors in case this might be too dark but saw a few pics on the forum of people that have used this color as their garage and it turned out beautiful!! Hopefully mine will work out too Double Entrance Doors - Corinthian WIN52G (Rich Walnut) Our Tender Appointment is on Monday - hopefully not too much damage (we didn't go too crazy with our upgrades). Re: Building Riva 29 With Carlisle Homes 3Mar 15, 2014 7:44 pm What a great floor plan, it's very versatile, good for any stage of your life. You colour selections are fantastic! Love the kitchen colours especially. It's soooo hard isn't it? We are building our second house and I would have thought colour selections gets easier but it doesn't. I got to the point where I could point to almost any brick and name the supplier and colour. Hubby thought it was quite amusing! I found choosing the window colour the hardest, because not only does it have to look good with your outside colour scheme, but it has to look good with your inside colour scheme - arghh!!!! I look forward to seeing this build progress. Re: Building Riva 29 With Carlisle Homes 4Mar 16, 2014 2:51 pm Totally agree about the color for windows/sliding doors. Initially our external theme had Woodland Grey but the green tinge kept bothering me and I didn't want to see any green from the inside, hence why we went Monument instead 3 months and a bit before our land titles...feels like 3 years!! Re: Building Riva 29 With Carlisle Homes 8Mar 18, 2014 11:34 am Thanks Melanie for posting the tender prices. Would really help on our budget. By the way, did u ask for upgrade on the ducted heating? Exciting times. Goodluck on your build im sure your house will look great. Thanks again. Re: Building Riva 29 With Carlisle Homes 9Mar 18, 2014 12:39 pm Hi Alexvi05 No we didn't get any pricing for upgrades on ducted heating. Good luck on your build too Which house are you building? Re: Building Riva 29 With Carlisle Homes 11Mar 31, 2014 12:56 pm Awesome floorplan! Hubby and I were initially going to build this house and we also loved the colour scheme. In the end we decided to go with an Affinity single storey. The 'bleached wenge' - that's just a standard laminex colour, right, and not one of those veneer type ones? I couldn't find the sample chip. You also mentioned the feature wall colour - how much were you quoted for that? [sneakersss] Re: Building Riva 29 With Carlisle Homes 12Mar 31, 2014 6:18 pm Hi sneakersss Yes it's just standard Laminex natural for the Bleached Wenge colour. You can also upgrade to a Riven finish (gives texture to the laminate) and we were quoted approx $400 for the Bathroom and Ensuite. Second wall colour is $400 per room or $200 per feature wall. We didn't add this to our quote as we plan to do the feature walls ourselves. Hope this helps Re: Building Riva 29 With Carlisle Homes 13Mar 31, 2014 7:39 pm Hi melanie_ctw Thanks for that. And yes, it does help. Looking forward to seeing your build start soon. [sneakersss] Re: Building Riva 29 With Carlisle Homes 14May 14, 2014 4:19 pm Hi melanie_ctw, Great Floor plan and your color selection is awesome too. Thanks for sharing your upgrade costs, this will plan for people like me who are doing all these calculation before going for color selection and color browse appointments. When is you build actually starting? The floor tiles you selected, is it from Category 1? Are these Ceramic or Porcelain tiles? Site Cut: 15/01/15 Slab: 03/02/15 Frame: 12/02/15 Lockup: 04/03/15 Fix: 16/03/15 Re: Building Riva 29 With Carlisle Homes 15May 15, 2014 8:46 pm Hi f1rst_h0me We are waiting for our land to title first. Build should be around August Yes the tiles are from Cat 1 and just plain ceramic tiles. Hope this helps. Re: Building Riva 29 With Carlisle Homes 16May 23, 2014 9:32 am We just bought in Pasadena right down the road We got a quote for the riva as we loved it too! we think we've decided to go with botanic homes, but we are yet to get a quote for them so The Riva is our back up if they are way over budget (which is possible even though they've assured us they can match it) I can't wait to watch your build Re: Building Riva 29 With Carlisle Homes 17May 25, 2014 5:26 pm Congrats on your land purchase LaceyM Which design are you building with Botanic Homes? We have our contract signing appointment with Carlisle tomorrow and should have a bank valuation on our project soon after. We're stressing out BIG time for our valuation as we have 2 friends building in the same estate and theirs were undervalued by $30k (and they didn't even go all out on upgrades) Re: Building Riva 29 With Carlisle Homes 18May 25, 2014 6:24 pm melanie_ctw Congrats on your land purchase LaceyM Which design are you building with Botanic Homes? We're stressing out BIG time for our valuation as we have 2 friends building in the same estate and theirs were undervalued by $30k (and they didn't even go all out on upgrades) Its called the 'bale 4' although we had to make it a bit smaller to fit our 14m frontage! Yeah ive learnt that happens a lot especially with land im hoping well be ok as our land was a bit cheap as it doesn't title til march 2015! best of luck to you )) !!! Re: Building Riva 29 With Carlisle Homes 19Jun 20, 2014 11:05 pm We settled on our land today Can't wait to move on to the build stage!! We actually cut back on some of the upgrades we did to the house as a few of our friends building in the same estate as us had their projects under-valued by $30k. Our bank valuation came back last week and we got valued pretty much the same as the purchase price *phewwwww* SOOO relieved!! We had been stressing out big time about this valuation as we would have had to delay the build by a few months if there was any shortfall. Our experience with Stockland has been shocking so far - we've hit a massive hiccup. We went to visit our land at the start of June....and our driveway crossover was built on the wrong side of the Lot (Left side instead of Right). Our conveyancer immediately flagged this to Stockland prior to settlement date and Stockland advised in an email that they were going to re-locate the crossover as a matter of urgency. To date, we've followed up multiple times requesting for the crossover re-location or a timeframe of when this mistake will be fixed. Stockland is refusing to put anything down in writing in terms of dates or timeframes. They just keep saying they will fix it but cannot tell us when. What the..?? Our builder has informed us that we need to re-locate the crossover by the second week of July otherwise we will have delays with our build I think we're going to have to engage a solicitor to help us fight this with Stockland or else, we might be waiting a long long time before the crossover is relocated. I can't believe this is happening sighs... Hello, Whats peoples current experience building with Carlisle, specifically in SouthEast Melbourne? We are currently building in SE Melbourne and finding that quality… 0 9196 We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37085 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74688 |
