Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 14, 2014 6:50 am Hi, So it's 4 days until we move in and I still haven't done anything about curtains. I wanted to wait and see what the carpet looked like before making any decisions. I've read that a lot of people just use sheets for curtains for a while, this might be a dumb question but how do you attach them? I don't want to put up a curtain rail or drill any holes etc until I figure out what I want to do!! Thanks in advance!! I first saw them in a thread on here somewhere. I got mine from this mob (you can get them from a few places): www.ezyblind.com.au Cheers Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Handover completed 27/09/2013 and now moved in. Re: Using sheets as temporary curtains 3Mar 14, 2014 9:10 am They look awesome! A lot of the online blind places sell them and some even deduct the cost of them from your order (if you order actual blinds/curtains via them as well) - so while you wait you have some nice window coverings! Just use drawing pins to pin them into the tops of the window frames. This way you will never see the holes. Re: Using sheets as temporary curtains 7Mar 14, 2014 1:01 pm We used disposable table cloths - the plastic kind that people use for parties or picnics. They are $1 per sheet at Big W. Used drawing pins to attach on the top of the architrave. They are semi opaque so will let some light in but affords some privacy as well. I ended up going to spotlight this weekend and they had a sale on eyelet sun block out curtain fabric so I just bought 5 meters of that and a rod, cost under $200 all up. Now I can take as long as I want to decide what kind of curtains I want. Hopefully I'll have my mind made up by the time the plasterer comes back for the 6 month inspection, then I can slip him some cash and get him to fix up the holes we drilled in the plaster for the "temporary" curtain rail before getting the professionals in. It actually looks pretty good, I bet I end up keeping this curtain for years!! LOL. Spotlight actually have curtain rods that you extend to the length of the inside of the Window. They have rubber ends and just sit there without the need to put in holes. Just hang a sheet over the top. Used this in a rental Hi JW I just read your post and I find this situation quite strange.
