Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 12, 2014 6:26 pm I'm a bit of a noob here and still trying to navigate my way around, so please point me in the right direction if there is already a thread for this.. But I was thinking it might be a good idea to have a 'Quick Questions' thread. Basically, a thread for all those building questions we have that don't warrant a whole new thread. I've seen a lot of the same questions getting asked over and over in build threads and they get a bit lost. This might help newbies like me to read through a thread like this and have a whole heap of FAQ explained. If it doesn't take off, then just consider this a very elaborate introduction for a couple of really quick questions - Q1. I've worked out that when people talk about ceiling heights in 'c' it means course of bricks (or something). Is there a conversion between these terms and metres? So 31c = ? Metres?? Q2. Are bulkheads only used to hide plumbing or fix gaps between ceiling and cabinetry etc, or are they also used for aesthetics? Is it a desirable thing to look for to add a feature to your house? Thanks! Our build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69984 If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain. Re: Quick question thread 2Mar 12, 2014 8:13 pm I would like to know about about the brick courses to metres We have bulkheads to bring down the ceiling to the cupboard height and for show, we are having some lights on hanging down from the bulkhead Re: Quick question thread 3Mar 12, 2014 8:34 pm Have a look at this link on standard brick sizes: http://www.anewhouse.com.au/2012/05/wal ... rd-bricks/ The post gives a link to a table on wall height for different numbers of bricks The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Quick question thread 5Mar 14, 2014 7:18 am Bumping my own quick question thread as I have another quick question: how many down lights should I have per room? Is there some general rule re number of lights per m2 or something? Our build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69984 If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain. 1.
