Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 12, 2014 4:56 pm Hi there, We're new to this forum and think its awesome. We received formal approval yesterday So now have our colour selections and pre start to sort out. Just wondering if anyone has tips on how to choose colours for tiles, bricks, window frames etc. Also what kind of things are discussed at Pre start and what kind of things did you upgrade? Any help would be appreciated Thanks Re: Things to consider - Colour selection/Pre start 2Mar 13, 2014 7:41 pm Hi Mike and Aisha Firstly congrats on your approval. It's always great news when that comes through. We are building with Henley and we went to an info session first at their Colour showroom to take a look around and see what we liked. I guess the thing to think about is see what colours you tend to drift towards - are they neutral or dark or a mix? Don't settle on anything straight away. See what you like and what category it's in to give You an idea of upgrades. Tiles we had no clue on and bricks we couldn't agree on. We ended up utilizing our Colour consultants tips and suggestions come the Colour appt. Just be cautious on upgrades and think if you *really* need them. I was petrified of the bank valuation coming back in the negative but we didn't Upgrade a lot and it was fine. Our most expensive upgrade was our bricks - cat 5 at $1700. But you want your bricks to look great. Our tiles we upgraded to Cat 2 but the cost was minimal and little things like the kitchen mixer ($30) and security lock on the front door. If you like dark colours try and break them up with something lighter and vice versa so it doesn't all blend in. Good luck! Go with what feels right for the two of you.
